Not sure how this will go down... but hey you guys love AERO! lol
Posted Image

Its based on the GT3 4.0 RS spoiler, made of fibre reinforced plastic. essentially thick fibreglass. It's the closest thing i could find to the style i fancied... but that didnt stop me chopping it about before fitting.

The struts overhang the bootlid...
Posted Image

So first up was to cut the legs down and fibreglass smooth the ends...
Posted Image
Posted Image

This pic illustrates the before and after strut...
Posted Image

Next up was to loose the brake light. The 911 has a pop up bootlid spoiler from factory, that activates at 70mph. There is a brakelight above this spoiler, but when activated a secondary brake light appears under the spoiler. With the new bootlid in a fixed permanent position, there was no requirement for two brake lights.

A skim of Carbon behind the recess...
Posted Image

Sanded back and fibreglass compound used to fill the recess...
Posted Image

A bit of prep later and halp from a mate and the bootlid ended up in primer...
Posted Image

I left my mate to crack on with paint...
Posted Image

Then lacquer...
Posted Image

That's where the 911 is at right now...

Interested to see how that looks once mated to the car. Fair play to you Fred, you love to play with your cars.

Impressed you sprayed it yourself and didn't take it somewhere.

My mate actually painted it, i can paint though but I've not long bought a new compressor/gun and not had chance to set it up yet for jobs this big :)

rob it's been trialled on the car and it looks a lot better on. You wouldn't think a spoiler this size could look factory but it looks like its rolled out of porsche with it fitted.

Prices have softened significantly in the last 18 months. Not read the whole thread but hope you have done your homework. Mate is on his 3rd one now and has a 911 Turbo Convertible. He normally spends between 6 and 12 months waiting for the right one.

They've actually gone up in the last 6 months. Mine is worth around £1000 more than what i paid for, notoriously the Carreras 4 have risen too. I've researched a fair bit, (IMS bearing etc) Its a lottery though. I waited around 4 months for mine, i was being a little fussy with spec though but it has FSH and plenty of receipts :)

I'm off to Belgium Friday for a car show, it's one mad rush at the moment getting everything sorted. The spoiler isn't on yet, the end caps have only just been painted and are a little too soft yet to fit. It's also having skirts to line up with the new bumper :) I'll get full shots when she's finished, it's nice to have interest on a vx forum lol

This looks fantastic Fred. As mentioned, the mods have taken so many so many years off of its age. Thanks for sticking around and putting this thread together.
