Dont forget to reroute or cable tie out of the way the handbrake cable or the wider wheels will rub it. Definitely keep an eye on the adjustment knob at the top of the shocks as its super close!

If 80% of your driving is on the road any semi-slick is a waste and the AD08 or R1R is probably a better choice. You'll not get the benefit of semi-slicks but, you'll have all of the drawbacks of cost, fast wear rates and lack of tread. More road friendly tyres won't look as blingtastic though.

Everyones cars are slightly different then everyone has different ride heights and geos. I have no experience of 235 tyres only what i have seen on others cars but i would imagine on my setup they would be fine. Some shocks dont have the djustment knobs at the top so would be fine. I think you need to way up whether the benefits outweigh the negatives. Haggi has said he only plans on doing a couple of trackdays a year so for me the negatives well outweigh the positives when the car is going to be mainly used on the road.

Dont forget about tramlining either. My car is all over the place on the road.


Thanks for all your help so far guys as there been quite a bit of stuff i didnt know with fitting the wider wheels thumbsup I take its there no way of taking the adjustment nob off the suspension? I was thinking that i might have to do something with the handbrake cable as its close now, let alone with wider wheels/tyres. Im going more for the AD08S as its more suited for my driving and the amount of track days, but the kumhos Ecsta XS KU36 dont seem to be much difference on the AD08S and there cheaper too. Anyone have any experience with the 2 types of tyres? The reason i want to go wider is for that extra grip with the power i have as it all makes a difference (and the wheels also :wub: ) Tramline i can live with as my car does it quite a bit now with the setup i have.

You can remove the knobs as they are just grub screwed in place. just dont loose the ballbearing inside. I tried but didnt fancy leaving the short little stump exposed as if that touched the tyre it would dig in more than a large flat surface. Probably acts as a dust cover as well.

No just a weekend toy for me but dont want the hassle of them rubbing on the vx. I did want the v70s but most of my time is fast road driving and traffic lights racing :lol:

There deffo seems to be different tolerances on different VX's. On Mine I know that tyre combo wont rub but my car isn't particularly low and I don't run uber camber. I modified the rear mud guards too as they were the first thing to catch on compression testing.

Maybe not a good idea then to take them off. Il see how i get on but if not might have to sell my suspension and buy the upside down version, turning into a expensive ordeal this is :(

So really it might be best to go 235/205 instead as there is more pros then cons for the extra tyre.

If 245/215 the pros would be
1= more grip

cons
1 = Cable tie hand brake cable, will probably catch with 235 as well
2 = cut out front arch for wider wheels
3= adjuster knob catching
4= spacers on the rear
5= risk of rubbing on the clam

So i think the smaller is the way forward but me being me loves a challenge and keep telling myself bigger is better :mellow:

Good point and i probably wont notice anything just extra hassle. Can 215/ 235 work as i dont mind cutting the fronts archs out to make them fit ?

Dropping a PSI of pressure would give you extra contact patch too.

also the rear ABS sensor wire runs very close between a 9J wheel and the spring.

You can add the handbrake cable to the cons list for 235 too as it's the 9J rim that catches it, not the tyre.

Why is it that 235/40/17 and 205/45/17 are more expensive them the 245/40/17 and 215/45/17 tyres. You would of though that if it has more rubber it would cost more.
