Required for a 2001 car. Mine creaks and knocks constantly now. It's getting worse and I'm looking for a straight replacement if poss before I go down the refurb route. PM me if you can help.

Steve. I intend to put a quick rack on mine. What with work and life in general, I just haven't got round to sorting it yet. If you don't get one on this solicitation, you can have my OEM.

Top work mate. I definitely will have it, but I am getting desperate. However, the VX does go SORN at the end of next month, so I might limp along until then and then do it. Will that fit with you Steve?

Are you sure its the rack and not just the UJ joint? Mine has just been replaced after I thought it was knackered, but turns out its fine & just needed a new bolt. PS I have still got my old rack if you want it? PM if your interested.

I am pretty sure that it's the inner joint near side. I can't be certain that this is the extent of it though. The noise and vibration is coming from that side and area. I will probably have to take off the boot and have a closer look at the joint this week. I am thinking along the lines of what the worst it can be I suppose.

You get a knocking at speed and it sort of groans when you turn the wheel when still?

No groaning on mine just a nasty metallic knocking coming from the nearside over bumps. Grabbed hold of the steering rack arm and can wobble up and down and replicate the noise. Think it's the outer bushes.. Now all I nned to do is find a replacment at a reasonable cost and then get it swapped over not a job I'm looking fwd to with a dodgy back!!

For replacement steering racks I can recommend carparts-direct.co.uk, they send you one and then give you 14 days to fit it and send back your old one to them.

Hmmmm. Very tempting. I might have to have a word with the big fella. He wants a quick rack and I want his std one. If my German is correct though. Dieser Verkäufer bietet keinen Versand ins Ausland an. No overseas postage?
