I'm looking at a LED mod/upgrade for the VXT speedo/rev dials. I have seen all the posts regarding this mod but seem to be stuck on getting the 1st circuit board out as it appears to be attached to the speed dial and rev dial and I can't work out how to separate them. I have the glass off etc. I've started to get me very mad and swear a lot at it, including a few personal insults but still nothing. We all know what the next course of action is is but inevitably that always turns out to be very expensive! Please help Imnotworthy :grouphug:

They simply pull off, it's a sphincter twitching moment but they will come off intact if you're carefull

It was indeed a squeaky bum moment. Pull as straight as possible and with even pressure on both sides of the little black circle.

Is it both dials that are not working ? My Rev counter needle came off and left the metal spindle in place when I pushed it back on it worked fine. However the speedo needle came off with the metal spindle. When I pushed it back on it didn't work. It was trial and error but I gradually pulled it out a fraction at a time until it started working. I then went to put the clear plastic back in place and found the the needle was rubbing on that. I then worked out that if I shortened the spindle I could push it on enough to clear the lens and not enough to stop working again. So in a do or die moment I shortened the spindle enough. Hope that all made sense ?

Yes it's both dials that don't work and yes that makes sense. Thanks for the tip. I shall give that a go tomorrow and see if it works. The spindle has a flattened part that i guess locks into the mechanism that turns the rev/speed dials so maybe its in too far or not enough

Hello,
I have the same problem. Since I bought the car two years ago the speedo needle doesn't work.
Now I was wanting to hide the ABS light and I've got to disassemble the stack.
I thought that it was a good moment to update the look of the stack.
After that I assemble it again but no needle works. It looks like all is fine but needles don't move.
Here a video of the fail moment.

Does anyone know something about this?

I tried to reset the stack doing this but it doesn't do anything.

Turn off the ignition
- Open the driver's door (yes, really!)
- Press and hold the trip-meter reset button
- Whilst still holding the reset button turn the key in the ignition to the second position (just before the engine turns)
- The Stack will then wind both needles back to below the zero position, and the LCD will show the software revision number.
- Once it's gone through the motions your speedo should then read true!

I need some help... Thank you.

One of the abs sensors provides the speed feed to the speedo. So your problems are related. Although your rev counter one is separate.

Left rear abs sensor. Usually a broken wire.

I have a Scangauge II and it shows speed correctly.

I think I should reset the stack to recalibrate needles but I don't know how to do it.

Thank you for the help.

As far as I know scanguage can't talk to the abs ecu? It's worth seeing what the abs fault is as maybe the scan gauge is getting a speed reading from somewhere else?

The ABS fault don't worry me. I'm worried about needles.

I need the rpms needle at least because scangauge refresh is quite slow.
