I actually quite like the IQ, for a small city car with no boot. Nicer than any other car in the munchkin class

Just come back from Goodwood where Toyota were having a promotional day. Featured car was the GT86 and I managed to blag some laps around the track on the premiss that the wife's got to start looking at new company cars. Although not particularly fast in a straight line it was surprisingly flat around the corners. The guy in the car with me was critical of some of my lines maybe cos I was taking the lines I would normally take in the VX. Nice car and wouldn't bulk at taking it on a track day. Thing is can you get a set of clubs and a trolley in the boot the overriding factor as far as the wife's concerned.

Drove one last week. Great looking, handled well but not very quick (0-60 in 7.5secs). Good value at 25k but useless rear seats has ruled it out for me.

Mate of mine has the GT86 TRD on a 24 hour loan today / tomorrow so went out for an hours pax ride this evening.  Only 250 in the UK and no extra power so all you get is a body kit, larger wheels, Yoko sport tyres and a quad ( ) sports exhaust.

http://www.evo.co.uk...d_pictures.html

Great chassis though and good fun in the twistys.  Feels like its on rails.  But a boring engine and to be honest the sports exhaust sounded.......well...........dull.

Simply not worth the £31.5k starting price.  And the seats were uncomfortable.  Felt like I had a bar running across my buttocks!

:yeahthat: the wheel/tyre ratio looks a bit off, especially the ones with the Wolfracealike wheels. Looks like a generic wheel/tyre package from Halfords. Other than that I really like them. Not a fan of people saying the engine lacks character though, hopefully they rectify this in later incarnations

WIth all the comments the GT sounds just like one of the first Celica's..the Mustang shape one in the late 70's...all looks, gizzmo's and sounds, ..but lack of real grunt...and driving fun..(lack of smiles for the miles)

..it was my first trip into the sports car world...until a tree jumped out of the hedgerow and decided to re design the backend one day in the wet.

I tried one before buying my 135, the feeling in the car was superb. Genuinely like what you would think an evora esque car would be like. But you put your foot down and very little happened which was a shame and made the car break a cardinal sin for me - it looked faster than it was lol I prefer the other way around!

The wife wants a new car and was thinking about one of these. (Actually i wouldn't go brand new. )

Whats the feeling on the Subaru version vs the Toyota? Don't see many, or hear much about the Subaru's.

IIRC Subaru are built in limited numbers at a set ratio to the Toyota.  Instead of the 5 year warranty you get 3 years plus free alignment, car washing etc.

I had one for 3 days as a test drive (my company buys about 200 Toyotas a year so they are very obliging!).

It is a cracking car but ultimately a 2 seater and lacks decent performance. Got lots of attention as they are so rare but engine had to be worked hard to deliver very average performance.

I just hope Subaru stick a decent engine in it, an STi version as it were, not sure how that sits with the limited production/licencing scenario though.

So effectively its Subaru's equivalent of the TRD. What a waste of money given it offers no performance upgrade.

Whyyy are they doing this!? Both companies have a license to print money with that chassis/body combo :9mm:
