Hi,
Just changed the regular lights on the car,
I was surprised to see how awesome they were, bright and all..
But then i checked the box and realized that i've put in 100W bulbs, which work fine and all but i'm afraid that the reflectors will burn up/out.. Anyone know if they can handle the 100W bulbs?
I'm talking about the H1 headlights now the high-beam lights.
Cheers!

I think mbes2 had 100w bulbs and they started burning parts of the lights.
Pm him to find out

Sent him a PM, thx for the tip to bad if i can't use them because the regular lights are a DISASTER night time here in Sweden, you litterally don't see more then 20-30m away while regular cars get up to 100m or so on the low-beam lights :/
I got two HID Projectors in the basement waiting to be mounted with Natrium arc lights so I'll probably burn through a moose before i hit it
And hopefully i'll get much more distance out of the headlights then i get now.. because i rarely drive after dusk/sundown.

Trying to pull 100W through will either blow fuses or if you 'uprate' them burn out the wiring I'd have thought!
55W HID's are pushing the limits of what the system will take.

Electronic-wise i'll fix so that two HID will be able to run without a problem, the ballast and everything is extremely efficient so it'll be fine.
However my concern now is about the reflectors with original bulbs on 100W when normally it's 55W installed, i'm not installing the HIDs until winter time has arrived (which, tho, will be soon)

Hi,
I fitted 100w for last years highland hoon, they worked great and were very bright.....
But...... I had to remove them, as they melted the inside of the headlights.... not too much... but that made me change back to 55w

I have osram 65w bulbs as my main beam which prompted some debate a few months ago. Consensus from those who are electricians was that they were fine. Nice and bright and no issues for me, although I dont have them on very often in any case. 100w would be a bit too ballsy for me.

After hearing the horror stories i'm switching back to 55W for now and replace them this winter with some more energy efficient HID lamps which generate less heat per light emitted.
