hi all

took the rear clam off yesterday to tackle a few jobs over winter. (along with a few upgrades i would suspect)
Posted Image

used the guide on here, very good. would have taken me a lot lot longer without it!

anyway. while pottering about i noticed an oil leak from this thing

Posted Image

looks like its coming from the hose rather than the plastic box thing (no idea what it is - crank case ventilation maybe?)
is it a well known fault with a simple fix or is it a new hose jobbie?

alsoooo

the oil filter area seems to have a bit of a coating of oil

Posted Image

in particlar the banjo bolt and pipe furthest away. is this the same hose as pictured in the first picture?

thanks, andy

That hose is the feeds oil to/from the black plastic oil/water heat exhanger. Those pipes come up on eBay occasionallly if you are patient... The oil leak by your filter will likely be a poor seal on the banjos. Just try nipping them up first, clean the area, drive the car and see if the prob has gone. If not replace the copper washers on the banjo. If the problem persists after that let me know and I will give further advice :)

hi nev i'll keep a look out on ebay for one of them pipes then, bit skint at the moment so will have to wait till one comes up cheap. i'll pop into vauxhall and get some new copper washers too, might as well replace them all while i've got good access! just need to find the part numbers now! i'll report back with my findings much appreciated andy

Andy, another thing to check is to take the oil filter off. Then check that the screw in adapter/sandwich plate that mounts to the oil pump is mated fully and is sealing properly. I am not 100% sure that standard VXT has this plate BTW, as I get consuded between Z20LET/H these days. Worth checking though.
