I still have my old ones without any lense cover but they won't pass MOT, but I won't drive until late april maybe if weather is good be then.

Why can't you pass an MOT? The individual projectors are all E-coded so still legal without a cover.
the light output is completely wrong on one of the headlights, I can't adjust it either as the adjuster seems to do nothing.. so yes I can drive with them but won't pass MOT :)
Are there any local owners who could lend you their light clusters on MoT day?

if Fezzasus don't have something ready until May then I might be able to lend from some local owners I think.

Forget HID's. We need lasers.

The powerful laser diodes are significantly smaller than LED diodes; they are only a few microns in diameter. Illuminating the road for a distance of nearly 500 meters (1,640 ft), the laser high-beam light has approximately twice the lighting range and three times the luminosity of LED high beam lights.

My lenses are so bad, that I am of the conclusion even a ham fisted idiot like me could not make them worse , so I am going to try and sand them , then polish them.

Might be some scope to run a pair of prototypes...

Plan to have brackets available at end of Jan, will allow for testing of functionality of headlights without plastic lens cover fitted before starting the second stage of design to produce the plastic shrouds.

I never used to think the VX headlights were all that bad, I just thought people just liked moaning!

Until that is I tried to drive the VX the other night after being so comforatble in the Navara, at one point the thought of having to wait until sunlight went through my head!

Probably doesn't help that my drivers side dipped beam sits considerably lower than the pax one, tried adjusting, nothing.

Might be some scope to run a pair of prototypes...

I could help with that if needed, I'd imagine I'm not all that far from you either, maybe 30 mins max.

Could be useful. My VX will be going in for a respray in Feb so i'll lose a couple of weeks of testing, plus the more hours tested the better. The prototypes won't be initially pretty, that's the final step. This will be purely to confirm functionality and durability.

If you haven't seen it already, I've included photos of the output from the new xenon projectors and old halogen units, you can see the original units are very poor in terms of light output. The beam pattern and distribution is also poor, which is why just fitting xenon bulbs doesn't fix much.

Hi Fezz,

Keep going with the good work!!

I also hope to be ready with the covers soon.

In fact, the only thing missing is getting the heat and curing porcess right to minimise the bonding gap...

So wiht our both stuff, there will finally be a full solution to get around the OE lights :flame:

I have been keeping this an eye on this, just in the background! I currently have HID's fitted so it would be a good comparison between all three as well :)

Have you seen this site? Not sure where you get parts from but its rated highly on other forums I'm on, albeit american.

If you have an english supplier of similar parts I'd be interested in knowing who it is, I'm looking at fitting a set of projectors into the Navara's headlights at some point this year, don't really want to fork up postage/import costs from the US for something that might go incredibly wrong.

I have a supplier, however only have one set. The issue you'll have using that website is that the US beam pattern is different and will all be LHD cut off. I am using Bosch 3"D3S projectors with OEM quality balasts. I can add a pair onto the next order if you want.

Could you let me know as soon as you have a set of lenses that fit correctly. I don't care how they look, as long as they have the correct shape

That website does offer a RHD version, so I assume they ship all over the show.

I'll PM you regarding the projectors and ballasts.

I think thats the site some guys on my missus M3 forums are using to replace and upgrade their projectors..they rate them highly..

Yeah, sure!

Just have brought a set of OE clusters to the producer of the lens covers, so that they can refine the fitment.

As soon as I´l have something here that clears, I will send a set over to you!

;)
