I'm confused. Are you guys working together to create this unit? (i.e. housing/lights from fez, lens covers from GF?)

No point reinventing the wheel. If there are lens covers available then I would always prefer to use those so I can focus on other areas.

Ahh okay.
I only mentioned it because you originally said you were trying to keep the costs down to £500 for a pair. But considering GF wants £300 just for the lenses, I'm guessing that price is going to go up considerably.

Costs will be managed, please try to avoid jumping to these conclusions before I can provide the full details.

£500 for the pair sounds cheap to me, around 800 seems fair, but ofc cheaper the better!

The oem rears are really horrid

I like the look of them.

I think it would be a big mistake to make any replacement light unit too different from the original design. I never had an issue looks wise other than them having very poor performance.

Totally agree. We need a like for like replacement or as near as looks wise first of all.

Fez, do you plan to make the housing by injection moulding? If needed I have good connections with chinese tooling and part suppliers. With this kind of low volume production a lot of money may be saved by using cheeper steel or aluminium for the tool...
I do, I will contact you when I get back from NYC to discuss this if you are willing to provide me the details of your connections.
Thanks

My suggestion for design would be to remove the separate highbeams and go with a bi-xenon solution with DRL position light. That should open up space for more freedom in design and packaging of the components. Take a look at newer Ferrari's like F430 and onward for reference
THAT sounds interesting
imo as long as the headlights works as they should I don't mind with a more (modern/up to date) style

i was actually thinking of something similar, however it could well work out as two different versions; ones that look the same as currently and one that is a modern replacement.

the problem we have here is..... the possibilities are endless...... everyone has different tastes........and to keep costs down only one design would be efficient at doing that...... if some want this kind, some that one another its going to be a no go..... i'd be happy, overjoyed even for an identical light that actually lets you see more than 20 feet infront of you and the sooner that can happen the very much better...

Are you going to copy the inscriptions of the original lens covers to get in the new headlights the appearance of a 100% OEM product?Hi Fezz, Keep going with the good work!! I also hope to be ready with the covers soon. In fact, the only thing missing is getting the heat and curing porcess right to minimise the bonding gap... So wiht our both stuff, there will finally be a full solution to get around the OE lights
