Minor update: Material will be carbon fibre, will be available both natural and painted with original colours, including mixtures (example, projector surrounds silver, the rest CF)

Hope to have photos soon, however if anyone wants to help push this project on, buy some lenses ;)

to be honest, it doesn't really matter how long it's taken. The supply of the headlights has dried up completely since the original thread so I would argue that the demand now is greater than ever. If I weren't working this, even at the rate it's taken, we would still be in a worse situation as there wouldn't be a high quality lens supply.

The biggest problem is identifying a manufacturing process which is cost effective for the number of cars left. It sits in a very frustrating position where prototyping is cost prohibitive on this scale and large scale manufacture isn't accessible. For example, injection moulding comes in at £40- 60 k for just the cluster section.

Thing is Tom... If you weren't you (if that makes sense) people would be ranting about lack of delivery, over promising etc. For example, those that paid for lenses and were waiting for clusters etc. I guess being a "one man band" is in your favour here rather than a LTD company. I do hope it gets sorted, but it does appear that you're waiting to shift lenses before embarking on clusters, not sure if that's good or bad...

If you're confident about production can we not do a crowd source again? I don't mind paying 50% up front if it will help speed things up a little.

Lee, The crowdfundind of the lenses was isolated to the lenses, I have never committed to delivery times for the entire headlight and investors are aware of this. The problem with this production is it has to be right first time, and the costs involved are significant, therefore I am not committing to delivery times and will continue to not commit until I am certain of timing. I have, intact, sunk a significant amount of my own money into lens production and this is why I am offering them now, any lenses which have been funded by people waiting for the full headlights are protected. Equally, I have spend thousands on getting to where I am with headlight cluster production. If there is any frustration from people waiting for headlights then I understand, however this is not a simple task and managing expectations is part of that. I don't want anyone waiting for my headlights to get their car back on the road.

This depends on final costs. Carbon fibre means a relatively low production cost so I'm funding small volume production of one headlight side first, once this is ironed out, the other side is a much simplier task. If there are some advantages from crowdfundind at this point (in terms of cost saving), I'll bring it up.

First limited production of casing initiated today.

Thanks Matt, right now your composite knowledge is even more useful, so i'll be in touch in the coming month or so to confirm some of my thinking.

I'm probably no where near as knowledgable as Matt but work as in Aircraft composites doing carbon and glass repairs. So I might be able to help with anything if you get stuck if I don't know I can always find out for you. Al

Hi Fezzasus

Is there still a non xenon version planned? And would there be a left hand drive version of the non xenons? If yes I'll definitively buy a pair.

I'm not planning to produce a non-xenon version as the part cost is approximately the same, however they will be available in both RHD and LHD.
