As long as they're easily paintable without days of sanding to hide the weave, who cares. :D

Tom, a few questions as things are now all but settled by the sound of it. Will the complete units be a 3-part (lens, visible trim piece and back/cover) construction, like the originals? Is the HID unit a bi-xenon type unit with high and low beam? And/or is the high beam handled by a separate halogen reflector lamp like the OEM lights? Has the halogen lamp changed size to allow space for the new larger HID lamp?

HID unit is bixenon.

High beam will also have the same Hella branded halogen unit to retain flash.

Halogen lamp is the same size, modifications to accomodate the larger projector are limited to widening the projector opening.

Construction is front lens and visible trim. Back is likely to be vacuum molded similar to original, however I'm experimenting with individual projector covers (similar to halogen spotlight socks). Key enabler for this retaining this construction is the improved projector mounting arrangement - bighead composite fasteners.

Answered my own question again.

Applying some pressure to myself; i'd like to be able to offer this for order in July. There is a lead time of approx. 6 weeks which I hope is a significant over estimate.

Fitted the headlight last night to confirm functionality. All working fine, significant improvement over the OE light output. Will get photos this weekend.

Am going around suppliers to confirm costs and obtain final unit price this week.

Not yet sadly. I wanted to when I mounted it up to check output but I ran out of daylight, I then realised I could take a good photo of the light output because I was facing an area under a lamp post. Will get all these and more at the weekend.

When roughly are you expecting to want monies? Desperate for a set of decent headlights!

Right now I could start production and supply working headlights, however these will not have a rear cover and I don't yet have a way to ensure consistent locating of the mounting bracket to the rear of the lamp. The bracket will get resolved during production of the carbon fiber components which are the rate determining step. I need to evaluate the need of the rear cover, as these will likely need hand crafted carbon fibre and preceeding molding. These parts are unlikely to affect costing.

So in short, If i take pre-orders now I can deliver working headlamps in approx 6 weeks, however I won't be able to show final images of the rear of the headlamp until delivery.

Will these be available indefinitely?

Considering I've just refurbed mine (and still not even put them on the car yet) I probably can't justify some, but will probably be tempted sometime in the future.

I've had this question a few times and it's not a simple answer.

Some of the components are off-the-shelf so if the manufacturer decides to cease production then I will be unable to supply, that said, most of the components that come off the shelf (high beam unit, indicator) are common to the OE headlight so have been around for at least 15 years.

The real decision will be on parts I need to produce. If I don't have sufficient interest in the short term, I won't be able to continue manufacture in the long term. Hopefully this won't be the case but I won't know for sure until orders start coming in.

Would also be really interested in this, likewise would need to look like OEM! My o/s light has cracked plastic around light and rattles and the n/s steams up real bad so would be really interested.

Why do they have to have washers? Don'y like the sound of that as then it is not looking OEM!

I just want a replacement light until which look original to do direct replacement with, but brighter if possible.
