Would also be really interested in this, likewise would need to look like OEM! My o/s light has cracked plastic around light and rattles and the n/s steams up real bad so would be really interested.

Why do they have to have washers? Don'y like the sound of that as then it is not looking OEM!

I just want a replacement light until which look original to do direct replacement with, but brighter if possible.

Photos are further up the page.

Washers will be optional as they are not required for UK MOT (can only fail if washers are fitted and non-functional), however other countries require washers for xenon lamps.

So in short, If i take pre-orders now I can deliver working headlamps in approx 6 weeks, however I won't be able to show final images of the rear of the headlamp until delivery.

I don't really care what the back looks like! :D the main thing (and I'm sure this is the case for most others) is the light output, which should be much better than standard.

I just don't want to miss out, then there never be a second batch (highly unlikely, I'd like to imagine) and be stuck with the standard headlights...

I most definitely will be painting them. Well, possibly Full Dipping them anyway. I've even been practicing trying to do it in a similar style to OEM with matt black main body and in my case matt anthracite light shrouds (as I wanted something darker than silver but trying to avoid a turdo replica). Proper pain in the arse as so far every time I try to mask either one bit or the other, the masking tape invariably pulls away some of the FullDip when removing and screws things up. May mean I have to go with the permanent option of paint instead but whatever, I can't live with the carbon finish.

Agreed, I've never been much of a fan of carbon fibre. About the only time I've liked the look of it is in r2mlb's car. I have the same carbon inside my car but don't like it, I can't understand why.

I would look at plastidip if you don't want carbon, so you can do it DIY, you can cleanly remove it if you ever wanted to sell them on or change colour.

If you plastydip then the headlamp cover need to be removed and then glued back again? Are these units coming with the clear cover lens ? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

I've FullDipped (meant to be better than Plastish!t and many more colour options) a fuggered spare to see how well it works for that very reason. 4 coats of black all over. Then I went with 5 coats of anthracite - screwed the final coat when I changed the spray nozzle  - for the shrouds (I prefer the contrast but would like something darker than the standard NA silver just not wannabe turdo style) which ties in with my screen surround and wheels. Problem is, masking the main body of the lights to spray the shrouds meant when I carefully started peeling it off, it pulled some of the black away or even separated the layers as well and ruined the effect.   So unless I find some better masking solution, I'll probably end up having to use paint (probably better anyway as better choice of colours).

Finally sat down with all my supplier costings to put together total cost and final purchase price.

Headlight details:

- price is for a pair of front headlights, fully assembled

- available as both RHD and LHD. No price difference.

- Full one piece carbon fibre enclosure (available gloss or matt black)

- Headlamps as follows;

+ 3 inch Bi-xenon projector providing dipped beam and non-flash main beam (however can also be configured for H7 halogen if needed)

+ 90 mm halogen main beam unit with sidelight (same as OEM), providing main beam (including flash)

+ same as original indicator unit

Cost

£1300, £650 upfront cost, £650 payable prior to delivery

Production time

approximately 6 weeks, however this is small volume production at a carbon fibre site supplying motorsport, so rate depends on other work. At the moment the production time will be quick (summer shut down for F1 teams), however once into October it'll be very difficult to get any production time.

So.. who's in?

Good point, forgot to add that. Retained lenses from the crowdfunding entitle a £165 discount.
