Perhaps talking to a company such as Morette might be in order, they make lots of replacement light clusters for many cars, I had a set on a Citroen years ago. Morette appear to use Cibie or Hella optics fittted to their own cluster designs, they therfore should be able to offer HID or conventional optics as an option maybe? Darren.....

I keep trying to forget the 30k USD worth of tooling, per side, that would need funding....and thats central China prices. I guess fibreglass and a vac moulding would do it, but whilst achieving that quality feel....would be tricky. I hope Im missing a facet of the master plan. Vac castings, prototype tooling maybe. To be fair my buds ReAmemiya lights are fibreglass and polycarb and theyre ok.

shame no body knows someone who works at factory that has the original molds to knock some out. wasnt someone trying to see if vauxhall would sell the molds for the light or the right to use them? if not would this not be worth looking into?

Given the cost of a new light unit (£895 +VAT or £1,074 inc.!!) There is no reason for Vaux to ever want to sell the sole rights they have to make them. Given the number around they are probably making around 500% markup on them!

Not yet. Don't expect anything within the next month or two - at this point i'm just trying to understand demand. thankfully there is enough so I'll be moving on to the next stage which is dissection of a light to measure up and confirm that hella xenons will fit. the completed item will then be passed on to my supplier for them to use as a template and they will be able to provide me with a guide price.

Will these include auto-levelling and a washer arrangement for MOT reasons?

Take it you haven't actually read the thread then? :P

How would the xenons be 'legal' unless you are also fitting washers as a bare minimum (the Huayra has Xenons and no load level compensation as its been proven and signed off that with even the lardiest of occupants you cant alter the beam pattern enough to need them.... No real luggage capacity either  )

Washers will be fitted - i'll be taking a feed from the windscreen washer pump.

As for road level compensation, sports cars are exempt from that, so stage one is to collect written agreement explicitly stating VX220s are exempt, if that fails I will be looking at Hella self levelling units

 How easy it'll be to get some form of exemption from levellers remains to be seen though.

Exactly. This is a major point to explore between having a prototype unit and committing to production.

It's happening, but I won't have much information to give you for a few more months. Right now I'm testing different xenon units.

I could do, one day with a replacement near side but not that fussed while its still working. Its such a shame vauxhall kill the parts prices for our little VX's when you look at something like this http://www.ebay.co.u...=item53efe64c45 hmmmm would these fit... with some body filler.. :P
