Mattias! I really think we need some pictures and facts about that build...... :-)

Currently I'm only posting on Instagram @speedsterv6 but will probably start a project thread here later, hope it will be possible for the moderators to add image support from onedrive as that would make it much easier to upload images...

I’m with Lee on this. This is a strong community and it looks very much like the huge amount of goodwill is being taken for granted (at best). Problems come and go - that’s to be expected in a project like this (ask me how I know! :P ), but there’s no excuse for the woeful communication and multiple missed deadlines...
Mods and admin do have an implied responsibility (moral, if not legal, and regardless of the snide quips about ownership) and it’s about time some hard *facts* were laid out in public at the very least to those who have parted with cash.

Has anyone complained to you or Lee in your capacity as admins?

I don’t see the relevance of that, but nobody has directly contacted me. Plenty of telling comments it the thread though.

How much have you paid, Jim?

I’m a little baffled, the people who seem to be giving Tom the hardest time haven’t even invested money in the headlights. The majority of those invested have just been popping on here (admittedly over the years) checking on progress and asking for updates.

I’m invested in these and I wouldn’t have done so if I wasn’t comfortable with giving money to somebody I’ve never met, but like you say Tom is a known person within the community. Tom has completed a number of projects now, the headlights probably being the biggest one. Saying Tom has held money isn't entirely fair, yes he has some peoples money, but to fund this project without taking some form of deposit would be both risky and expensive. The "held" money would have paid for components and materials.

The reality of this ever meeting any actual deadlines? Unlikely...

You'd be a fool to think someone doing this in their own spare time isn't going to have set backs. Seriously, look at anything these days from your takeaway being ready, to roadworks or even Brexit, nothing ever happens when it's supposed to. Did I know all of this when I invested, of course I did, you're naive if you didn't. Did I expect them to take this long, no. Would I prefer them to be right rather than rushed, yes.

For those invested here are some pictures Tom has sent me (I chased outside of the forum), remember he is just a person trying to give us options with these little unique cars.

An alternate question you could ask is, where else can you source headlights from?

Rusty, I’m baffled that you’re baffled! Fairly basic questions are being raised in this thread which Tom should be able to answer. You think that’s being given a hard time?! All he has to do is meet his own deadlines or keep the thread updated, the no one would be asking questions. Simple.

I’m baffled that you’ve posted those pics (they look great btw) and not Tom. Doesn’t make any sense!

I think that answers my question. You're a moderator on this forum, as is Lee. You're not the voice of it. If someone has an issue and comes to a mod for help, then you should help. Offline. Direct with Tom. Don't wade in in public waving your big "I'm a moderator" flag when your help has not been asked for and certainly not when you're not directly effected by the issue in hand.

Well, you could also ask if it’s going to rain tomorrow, but that would also be irrelevant.
I heard that eltec might be doing some but not seen anything myself.

Tom (until recently) has always replied on this thread or to PM's in a reasonable timeframe, when he wen't a bit quiet I went to Facebook. I myself have used this forum less and less over the years, like many others I'd imagine. I completely agree with you that more updates of any issues would have been better, but why you and Lee have seemingly started getting the pitchforks out is what's confusing me, especially as neither of you are invested or have had any direct complaints?

I've been speaking to Tom (outside of the forum, that is allowed right?) and he sent me these photos, including photos of the units that are destined to be mine. I asked if he minded me posting them to the forum, he did not, so I posted them. Hopefully that's easier for you to understand.

By chance, do you have a few pairs of headlights buried away or something that are going to drop in value at some point?!

“Wade in” ?! Haha, get a grip. And no, the mods/admin are not some foc legal support mechanism for aggrieved punters.

I take it that you’re not “directly involved”? So why are you “wading in”?

Frankly, I’m not overly bothered about this. At the end of the day it’s caveat emptor.
just a shame to see such a great project become a standing joke for want of a little communication.

I'm commenting as a happy previous customer of Tom's and for the reasons I've stated previously, echoed by Rusty. You have literally nothing to do with it, as you so eloquently describe, so how about you butt out and stop building (and, might I say, abusing) your part?

Pitchforks?! What are you on about??

I still don’t understand why Tom couldn’t post the pics himself.

Alas, no headlights. Steering wheels, books, and Vs coming out of my ears though.

That’s it from me; as you rightly point out, I have no dog in this fight and can’t be arsed with strawman arguments.

This one is certainly up there but the Imran thread is going to be the top one by some margin IMO.  Go have a read if you haven't already, its awesome.
