Fezzasus, if you pull this off it'll be brilliant - no pun intended. Definitely in for a set. I don't think they'd pass the Swiss mot nazi, but I'll just swap with the old set.

why would they not pass MOT?

Let me be quite clear here, I'm talking about the Swiss Mot guy, not the British. The Swiss guy will fail if the engine is not clean enough never mind aftermarket lights.

Fezzasus, you will be doing them LHD also won't you? If not you should - they go for a fortune second hand.

It's much easier to get LHD e-coded headlights that RHD, it'd be easier just to supply them to the continent.

With used euro prices on oem's being 1.5 UK pricing, we would definitly welcome them.

2. Centre part of the casing is injection moulded = expected, high cost to recreate, particularly considering the design is handed, so twice the number of dies.

could be worth seeing how much it would be to soft tool for a limited production number* from someone like this http://www.protomold....uk/?s=PL&ls=PL

*they call 10k a limited run so a pretty much set for every VX ever made :D

That's not a bad price, I'm going to explore that and using vacuum casting, which allows for a minimum of ten runs and usually more, depending on the plug detail.

The problem at the moment is I have no idea about 'real' numbers, and don't want to owe thousands on dies for the sake of a few people wanting headlights. I might start off vacuum casting and swap to die casting once I know there's demand.

In other news, I've firmed up details of the xenon units. Bosch bixenon projectors with Mitsubishi ballasts, and sourced the original indicator unit. Next I need to make a master with new projector mounting points and look at the best routing for the integrated spray jets.

Bmw tend to have lights with switchable beam pattern, left side or right ride bias, any chance you can incorporate the same idea to negate the issues of different units for uk/Europe. Plus, when people hop over the channel they can turn a knob on the unit and no need for stick on deflectors. Should be possible with projectors?

They tend to switch from handed to neutral rather than fully to the other side, but it is possible.

Any updates fez? Maybe we should get a list going so you can gauge how many people are interested (although I guess that's difficult to do without a price...)

This is still on track. I'll have a prototype available soon. No point generating a list yet

Hi, I know this may stupid and potentially too late into the development process but could we have option of being able to replace the lense cover if we have an accidental stone in the lights incident.....ie an option to purchase new lense covers in the original purchase agreement so if the worst happens the lights would still be salvageable? Thanks Adam

This is a fantastic idea, though I have one concern I think?.. no-one has voiced yet. (though I did skim read some). If the washers are mounted inside the lens cover so as to be a flush appearance, will we not get bad condensation inside the lens cover, which I believe is an mot fail :-( really hope I'm wrong on this, its a great idea.

To clarify, the washer jet will face the exterior of the lens. the difference is rather than needing to be mounted on the clam, it will be mounted directly to the lens to avoid drilling of the clam.
