I have just got back from mechanic and the red lines highlight where it is bent. there also needs a replacement wishbone and 2 replacement rear control arms. fully fixable or not?
Is that not a red line underneath the side beam?

Hmmm. Never heard of that. I used a zinc primer on the shims and left it at that. Any compoud had long gone.Thats cheered me up. Would be happy to do the subframe swap as well.
Once rear clam is off it isn't 15 hours, I would do it with engine in situ, just strip exhaust and suspension off.
Remember to use the jointing compound when you fit the new subframe. ACF50... have a tub here somewhere.

What a great story. Had a little scrape in mine today, that sounds similar. I am selling my VX anyway & is advertised, but gutted I pranged her. Anyone interested in saving another VX220 check her out, before I scrap her off for parts! (Joking)
She's for sale as a whole car if anyone is interested. Could be a bargain to someone. Looking for £6000
