Personal preferences, but I loathed mine with the hardtop on. Boomier inside, stayed colder for longer, not so quick/easy to whip off when the weather was good enough etc. with a properly looked after soft top they are no leaker than the ht.

Got to say, mine seems quieter with the hard top. That's being objective as I haven't done a noise test - perhaps I should. Also, don't know about colder for longer - can't say I notice a difference. If anything it's a bit warmer - maybe.

Have to agree about the wet though. My soft top doesn't leak at all.

Boomer isn't nessecaraly noisier..... Just traps what noise there is. And 2004 is not an early VX!
