Hi Guys, I've been "lurking" around the site for a little while now since i got a tip off about it! I'm currently driving an MX5 (i am a girl!) and looking to upgrade to something a little more spirited! would welcome views from anyone else who's made the switch! or people just giving some banter! Thanks Sophie

Hi Alim!

Thanks for the advice, always nice to hear from someone else who's made the same journey as you!

Ha ve you got any complaints with the VX above and beyond the normal? The only issue is currently switching from a nice folding metal roof to a fabric one in winter!

Although all the advice says by a convertible in winter time!

Your MX-5 is newer than mine was, i didn't have the luxury of a metal folding roof!

Complaints about the VX..... Heaters don't work, roof leaks, uncomfortable in winter, no creature comforts at all, can't hear the stereo on the motorway, paint bubbling...... the list goes on

the one thing I will say is that the rare, sunny afternoon/evening blasts with the roof off, far outweigh any of that bad stuff. That's why i'll never part with my VX :)

Cheers,
Ali

I had both cars for a couple of weeks. The MX5 feels like a "normal" car that the roof comes off (and that was in the fabric roofed version) whereas the VX feels raw and intense.

If you're into it then that's not an issue but there will be occasions where you just want a bit less drama and a bit more relaxation. I think the MX plays both cards very well and thus appeals to more people......but then that's what makes it less exciting.

I always say that people need a sense of humour when they buy a vx and try to run it everyday. Its entirely do-able but you may have to count to ten on occasion.

EDIT : As an aside my fiancee hates it and thus i have to take our primera when we go anywhere. I could fix this by selling the VX and getting something more sensible but instead i'm going to get a Civic Type R as an everyday car :D

You're REALLY not helping the situation with comments like that! Ha.

Welcome and enjoy the community love! Are you any good at puns? A lot of threads turn into a pun slinging match :-D

Have you decided what model you're after? An NA or Turbo?
