My old r26 had switchable maps which I did with a remote box. Can't say I ever changed it to the lower but the difference was 15-20bhp and not over 50! Can you plug a laptop into it and look at data of a run or track lap? Maybe even locate a problem easier if something goes wrong. Amy, you'd of defiantly been on the harrop group buy. That's if you made the mistake of buying an NA ;)

Also mine when first started cold splutters and struggles as you describe, so now just let it idle for about 3 min before setting off and all good :)

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Chris has spent ages trying to sort it but it just seems to be a characteristic as at the end of the day its meant for race cars. Just thought it best to give as honest feedback as possible as people want to know all the ins and outs before parting with their hard earned.

Have to say unless you've been out in a standalone conversion mapped by Chris you won't believe how smooth it is :) Almost linear in delivery, so linear in fact it does not feel as fast as it actually is, just effortless power! But when an Astra VXR canned it past me on Wednesday I just let him go knowing even in 4th at 60mph on cold damp tarmac my wheels would just spin if I hit the loud pedal! Now with a little more temp in the tyres and dry tarmac... ;)

Its funny you say that. When I had a lesser powered car, I would always try and race or gun it. Now I have a relatively quick car I can't say I ever bother when someone bates me......well ok, every now and again ;)/>

Oh trust me he a was a proper chav! If the road conditions had been better I'd have enjoyed showing him the difference between a fwd hatch and high power VX Turbo :P

Getting full power 'right' is the easy bit  How are cold starts, part throttle and idle + idle drive behaviours?

Cold starts the car always fires into life on about the 4th turn of the engine but you do have to let it idle for at least 3-4 min from cold, it will stall if you try to drive it unless you fo that, it has a really lumpy rich growl from cold for the first few min sounds very mean! Once you know you need to let it idle from cold its no big issue just pull the car out, start it up immediately, and then lock the garage ect before jumping in, certainly no good for 'Le Mans' starts tho!!! Idle and idle drive affer that are absolutly fine, and partial throttle is where the standalone ecu & mapping really excels, night and day from std ecu, so much smoother and transient, it really Is so progressive and controlable even with almost double the power of a std turbo :)

Did you ask Chris what's the reason behind this? Is it just the nature of the ecu?

not sure tbh? Chris said it was about as good as he could get it, assume its probably more TB related than ECU? as said not a problem anyway as it's not a 'daily drive' and letting a high power engine idle for a few min to let the oil circulate and gently warm up is good practice IMHO thumbsup After that its how the car drives and it does that amazingly well :)
