Duncan_F and I went to watch some racing at Oulton Park recently, and while we were walking round the paddock we were discussing how cool it would be to get into competitive Motorsport, you know the usual "we could do this" sort of thing......

So today we made the journey to Kent, with a great deal of help from Nelly, to collect this:

Posted Image

Posted Image

  • Full piper exhaust system, 4 to 1 heat wrapped manifold with decat pipe

  • GAZ coilovers
  • front 306 gti brake conversion, drilled and groved dics and yellow stuff pads,
  • BCM short gear shift setup
  • remapped
  • fan override
  • direct cold air feed through head light + breathe filter
  • cold carbon induction
  • 2 sets of allys sprayed in white with toyo t1r tyre 195 50 15 tyres
  • front upper and lower OMP strut braces
  • shift light
  • 2 corbeau bucket seats
  • sparco 3 point harnesses
  • small OMP steering wheel
  • TRS front tow strap
  • bonnet pins
  • pace lights
  • fully stripped out
  • trailer included.
It's a 2 driver team, Me & Duncan will be entering it into the Classic Sports Car Club Tin Top series next year, which consists of 7 x 40 minute races at some big circuits in the UK. There's a bit of work to do to it yet, but watch this space.

Big thanks to Nelly for his help collecting the car today (it was a 5am start), and also to Boombang for all his advice while we've been looking for the right car. We think we've got a cracker.

Cheers,
Ali :)

£1850 for the car including the trailer
£39 membership fee to CSCC
£99 registration for the series (estimated on last year, registration isn't open yet)

It's £300 - £350 per race. (again, based on last year)

We need to fit an approved cage, extinguisher, seat and harness.

If you want any more info, please do ask. There are a few Saxo/106 quirks it's worth knowing, plus a few (thankfully cheap) mods you'll need to finish races. Can't wait to see you guys out and happy to help where I can.

I'm still working on mine by the way, think I need to find £2k for the engine/box and then the running costs for the season. Not looking very likely at the moment.

Lead shot in the spare wheel well?

I always found my Saxo VTR to be far too light at the back.

I think Dunc was too tired to look excited, me on the other hand am always a giddy idiot.

It would be awesome if you could get into the same series as us Alex, any chance you can offset the costs of the engine/box against selling the current set up? I hope you can work something out thumbsup

Looks great fun. thumbsup I take it you will be in class D? The Saxo VTS was already quite a light little car (935kg if I remember rightly) so stripping it out and giving is a little more power should make it a real hoot to drive while not breaking the bank. :)

OI!! No taking the pee out of the chav wagon :poke:

:P

last years races were: Snet, Brands, Silverstone, Spa, Anglesey, Castle Coombe, Mallory, Donnington, Oulton.

We won't be able to do Spa though due to lack of experience, maybe next year!
