We'll have to see if we can get that done cheaper next year, they were doing them at Oulton for about £60 weren't they so we should keep an eye out for when they're doing them again and get booked in.

George, I think we could have been a bit cleverer with hotels if we'd booked further in advance or even camped during the summer, sometimes digs were costing us more than fuel. Eating at the circuit is also really expensive, we could have been a bit more organised there too.
Series Registration £99
Race fee: £365 per race
The only repairs we did all season involved gaffa tape and cable ties, and a light cluster that someone donated. Total cost £0.
As for the other bits I didn't price up, this is what I spent (Duncan went for different kit)....
ARDS Test £250
License £60
Headtec Helmet (With Hans Clips) £300
Sparco Boots £120
OMP Gloves £40
AWS custom made 3 layer Suit £450
Sparco Balaclava (optional) £20
Alpine Stars Nomex top (optional) £115
You can do the kit cheaper by buying second hand, or BNIB Headtec Lids start at £150, off the rack suits are £250 - £300. I only got mine custom made because the boy shape ones don't fit me properly, but to be fair though I do think it's awesome. Racing at our level, you're not required to buy all the nomex underwear, that's up to you - I personally feel better having it.
I guess you can make it as cheap or expensive as you want it to be, having a year under our belt now means we can curb the costs next year giving us more pennies to spend on the car .
I have all my gear to buy for next year as well.
I was contemplating doing some shopping at the Autosport show in January, but not sure if that's the best approach.
Did you guys buy a Hans device too?

Medical is annual after 45 Mark, although that is of course academic, once your past that age.
Best deal I've seen is at the 750MC annual dinner for £30. I'm not attending (might be the year after ), but if you're anywhere near Stratford, it's worth a call. My quack has filled the form in incorrectly twice in the last three years, so it may be worthwhile travelling to someone who knows what they are doing.
I bought my gear at Autosport, it is essential to try items on, poorly fiting boots and gloves will slow you down.
HANS is personal preference, I have one, but I think an eared seat is higher on the list as that mitigates the injury in sideways impacts as well.

No, but there is talk of them potentially becoming compulsory. So we both bought helmets pre-drilled with the clips fitted to save having to change lids if it does come into force.

I'm so looking forward to being in an actual race at one of the most legendary tracks ever, I can't wait.
It'll be even better having a VX to cheer on.

Hoping to be joining in with the mighty Civic too :-)
I really hope you do, it'll be a lot of fun having you in our class/series, well, unless you beat us of course.
You'll need a National A licence if you want to race at Spa though, which means getting 6 signatures on your racing licence, and there's only 3 races before the Spa trip. You can get one signature by being a marshal for a day (I'm toying with the idea of doing this actually so you, Ali and I could arrange something) but you'd need to enter 2 other races in another series to get enough for the Spa trip.
Or you could just come along as mine and Ali's groupee.

I hope they add a couple more races, there was 11 this year but only 9 so far for next year.
Glad Silverstone's back though, it'll be awesome racing at a couple of F1 tracks. Glad Anglesey's back too.

You also need a full set of fireproof undies to race on the continent, can add another £100+ to the cost.
