Honestly, we're not sure, it's on the growing list of things we need to do/research.

It's the VX way. Why bother thoroughly researching things/costs in advance. Fcuk it, buy the car and work the rest out later.

 as I posted earlier, barmpots the pair of 'em!

But have to add that is exactly the philosophy I myself subscribe to

By Saxo forum, assume you mean Saxperience? It's interesting on there, nice mix of complete mindless chavs and one or two people with actual knowledge. I would recommend www.106rallye.co.uk however. Much smaller but most of the knowledgeable people from Sax-p, 106 owners etc are all on there.

I used to have a VTS and it was brilliant fun and fantastic handling and would really pee off drivers of bigger engined cars. My only problems were gear linkage and alternator. oh and the police

Nope, not yet. We've both received our ARDS pack but we haven't booked or taken the test yet.

shop around, to get the test and medical for sensible money. Give us a shout as there are a few looking to do same so possible group buy. It make sense to do this in 2013 as iirc it runs on calender year.

Good luck to both of you. If you need any help or advice, just shout. To deal with a couple of questions I've seen; Crashing; no circuit liability, your risk is your car. Insurance, I don't know anyone who insures the race risk. Realistically, the risk of car damage is very high and you shouldn't race a car you can't afford to lose. Insurance will probably be around the same as the entry fee with a large excess. Club racing is all MSA regulated, the FIA deal with the international series. All safety matters are dealt with in the Blue Book. Make sure you get the cage/FX/cut out correct. Scrutineering is taken very seriously. Not much I can say on the licence, different ARDS schools offer deals from time to time. I found Autosport the best place to buy my equipment, more to try on and room to negotiate. The CSCC are a good friendly club. Possibly operate on a higher socio-economic plane than the MSVR series.

AFAIK It runs for 1 year from when you receive your licence, so if i did mine tomorrow i'd have a 2012 licence which would run until November next year. Someone correct me if i'm wrong though!

Nope, it's each year to end of the year. Get it now and it'll run out next month. Once you do the test however, you have something like a 6 month period on which to send off for a license. So if did test tomorrow you can wait till Jan to get the actual license.
