CSCC have also started a modern classics which covers up to 1/1/2000 with some flex on that. IIRC VX220 were launch summer 2000 , early customer cars were 1/10/2000

I have had it confirmed that i can race our VXT in next seasons modern classic series but only as an invitation no points or trophies etc. The series coordinator said that if enough vx220 ( 5 or more) it may be possible to run them in thier own class

Like 5 VX's all doing a One Hit Wonder, or a regular class in the series?

May be out of Tin Tops. The cost to get my engine up to competitive sort of power for Class D would be in the region of £3k. It's not been the best year at work, so don't want to spend that out now. My lap times at Brands recently are in the same window as the SaxMax times (so know it's not my driving!), but a bit over the Tin Tops times. Brands isn't a massive power track either, get out on Combe or Silverstone and that gap will open right up. Thankfully I now have the parts to bring the suspension up to spec (SaxMax runs standard rear torsion bars, way too soft!), a much shorter gearbox (VTR ratios are interstella). If can get them fitted soon, looking at booking a trackday at Brands for 15th December, see if can get the new bits on and how much that improves laptimes.

Whichever series you go into i'm sure that it will be great fun. Be interesting to see how much more you can get from your car (so we can then copy you :)) We haven't even starting thinking about what we need to do to be competitive, we're just going to do some minor mods and see what happens!! so far the plan is get it on a rolling road, do some test days and see what it's got, fit the necessary safety equipment and then see what mods we need (can afford). There's not much more thought gone into it that that tbh! We'll probably get knocked out the park by everyone else in our class, but we won't know until we give it a crack :)

Fancy Brands on 15th Dec? A standard VTS engine is unlikely to get you a pole in class C but should keep you with the pack. Worth noting with a Green forced air induction kit (Pugsport Group A type copy) and a good exhaust, my 106 gti made a chunk over 140bhp, absolutely flew. Did solid 59 second laps of the old Anglesey circuit on standard suspension. 325lbish on the front, 23mm torsion bars, some half decent shocks, A048s and you'll be flying.

It's looking more and more like Trackday Trophy now. Viewed the 106 today - idea was to part-ex my Saxo against it, and it would be a worthwhile entry to Tin Tops. To say I was disappointed after looking around was an understatement. Gutted as really wanted to race with you guys, perhaps 2014?

it would be a class on its own but where do you find 5 race vx cars wanting to do it.

I race in Future Classics (with novice cross) will look out for you guys......it's great fun and a great bunch of guys. Once you have raced track days will never be the same again. I am thinking of building a VXR for 2014 Modern Classics and a bit of Road Sports. Need to see if they continue with the VXR past this year.

MR2 na. Great fun however not sure the term Future Classic fits the car......... it is a great drive. Will be taking out more weight over the winter as it's Championship spec. Once done it should be a little more competitive. Folk are very helpful and will make you feel welcome and help with the race routine. Great bunch and unlike the MR2 Championship minimal car contact = incident and hence red flags. Some very good drivers and some great kit. Good luck.
