why don't you just buy a lotus then, if the original badge is not good enough

The large price increase? If OP has a turbo, then most elises won't keep up with it on the straights.

Well, get some TD wheels on it and some track tyres and you will have the same handling as an Elise too :)

Each to their own. Don't know why though? Suppose it was made in the lotus factory though?!

I'm enjoying just watching this  Yes the OP can do what he wants. Yes there's elements of Loti in our cars. No it's not a Lotus. Stu your car stays on the road purely because of my bloody awesome old shocks!!

No you wont, the chassis is different, the rear subframe is different, the suspension is different, the wheelbase is different, the width is different and the weight is different

And the steering rack is different too, as I understand. I retract my statement, and replace it with "similar".

ok, Realise i'm a noob, but here is my $0.02..

not everyone will like it....fair point..

I think the execution, irrespective of whether you like it or not is pretty damn good

for those still confused as to why...

http://en.wikipedia..../Opel_Speedster

and to summarise the important facts that relate to this discussion

"It was built in both right-hand drive and left-hand drive versions at the Lotus Cars plant in Hethel, Norfolk, England."
and
"it arguably gives the Speedster more mechanical Lotus content than the Elise"

and yeah, it is "arguably"...at the end of the day though, i like it and think its a good mod. wouldn't bother if there wasn't another reason to take the clam off, but as the OP said, the clam had to come off anyway, so why not have some fun with it..This is, after all, what these cars are for anyway...having fun..

Are you actually blind? If it was a proper effort then yeah "maybe" there are points for workmanship, but some paint and a gold sticker a good product doth not make.

Oh and also, by some miraculous quirk of the internet, you happen to have posted that from the exact same IP address as the OP. Your opinion is therefore worthless. thumbsup
