Quick tyre question for anybody in the know please... Done a bit of research, mainly on here and the Marshal KH35 is supposed to be the same rubber as the Kumho KU31's, is this true? Also the Marshal tyre MU11 looks to have an identical tread pattern of the KU31 so has this also got the same compound with a sportier tread pattern? MU11 better than KH35? Only trying to get to the bottom of this because marshal's are available everywhere and I cant find the kumho ku31's for the rear 225/45/17's anywhere... well i can but only in runflat version and we dont need or want that @ £110-£120 a tyre. Fronts arent a problem but I want all 4 to match. sorry for yet another tyre thread - least Marshal's havent been covered yet

Or kumho ku39 as they replaced ku31. The tread pattern/construction probably filters down from kumho to Marshal? Probably more differences between ku31 and ku39 than the marshals, tread pattern and compound characteristics mainly.

KU39 are slightly softer than KU31 - no noticable difference on the road. Also KU39 have asymmetric tread pattern. I have no knowledge of the Marshals.

Been seriously put off Kumho as a brand since shodding the TT with 4xKU37s. Quite honestly the grip in the wet is shocking. I now know the reason they cost half as much as the equivalent Michelins !

KU37 don't even show on the Kumho UK site, so no idea where they are positioned I found the expensive brands, Continental , Pirelli etc got the better performance but at the loss of tyre duration

Sometimes I really doubt the quality of the better manufacturers though. KU39's stop better than bridgestones. Even so in the wet...

can't fault the KU31's for all year round road use and track days, if the marshalls are the same then i'll be going for them next.

They are the same I think. Slindborg used to run the Marshalls on his sheddy-vx if I remember rightly. Tyres can vary on cars from make to make remember, so what's good for one car is not necessarilty good on another. KU31's are good on my Focus if that helps and I used to run them on the VX. Contrary to the belief of Wrightstuff at the national a couple of years ago, I didn't come off at the first corner in a flaming ball of death.

For all intents and purposes the ku39 is the successor to the ku31

For what its worth, they (KU31's) performed as well as previous Eagle F1's and Toyo T1S on my MR2. Some tyre types seem more suited to lighter cars, hence probably not ideal for a 'heavy' TT.. :P

Yeah apparently what's available now is the last of the stock?

I've found 205/45/16's but nothing in a 195
