makes sense...the lights did flicker when turning right on some bends before they went off

when you say a break in one of the wires...do you mean just the headlight wires, or could it be any of the wires causing the trip?

(appreciate you help up to now fezzasus)

I know a few people have had issues with wires corroding at the fuse box.

:yeahthat: ..mine were corroded at front, under wheel arch..flickered, went off, flickered went off, then stayed off, especially over bumps...changed wiring all ok..(not easy or cheap though) :(

WD40 is okay, it's a white oil so means it's light and has got good capillary action to get into all the gaps, however it doesn't have anything in it to stop further corrosion, where as ACF50 has a corrosion inhibitor in it - you can get a can of it for about a tenner on ebay.

I might spray the whole thing with ACF50 now just to make sure of it.

I've done just that, to all exposed connectors (especially the fusebox and relay bases) annually for the last 4 years.

Whoa. A bit of caution required. If you have a break / intermittent contact then a spark will ignite the wd40. Be very sure of where you are spraying it. As above try giving the loom a bit of a tug / shake around the fuse box with the lights on to see if it does cause a flickering.

that's kind of a good sign. It gives you a possible indication of where the fault may be. Focus on that area and try to close down the issue. Chances are the more you follow it, the more likely you will see something that is causing it.
