Nothing to bash. We all agree they're sh!t. thumbsup

Horses for courses I think. Spuk posted a vid of three VX s going up a section of Apple cross pass on this years Hoon. The camera in his stage turbo with just him in it,you can hear on every tight bend the wheels screeching and you can see my NA pulling away, Now I was leading so needed vision and the speed limiter sat in,she is happy for me to give it some but will throw a wobbler if I screech the wheels to much so the NA went up not fully on the limits. He may have been able to go faster but was loosing some traction and the NA never did.

On another section more open he eased away slightly and I was wanting more power.

I just can't decide about SC ing my car. or sell it and just go stage 4 Turbo?

Maybe I need a vote

(yes mark i know what you would vote)

Stage 2 supercharge is no stage 4 turbo, And to get 300 bhp out of SC needs serious ££s But I don't think a stage 4 turbo will be as good as a Na for fun factor on the road I'm going to snetterton on Wednesday so I hope the will fill the gap where my Na was missing in track,

I must admit the almost the most fun ive had in the vx was chasing a turbo and SC at Le Mans they had me on the 3 straights but I was all over them just before the main straight and then chasing Chill into Pontree coming back from one of days out once he had shook me off the road passing me.

I'm ready to SC but really think I might lose something.

That is first time I opened the car up on the road There was more to give but I didn't no the roads, My speed limiter wasent in the car, ie Emma Overtaking is so much easier and safer with the SC I think when I get more used to it I will get some of the fun back that I lost

Was the reverse for me. The more I got used to it, the more the novelty wore off.

Ive had a stage 4 tubby and for the road was hard freakin work. The NA IMO is left wanting for more grunt. My 260 bhp SC is perfect for me now. Went out for a spin at lunch time, its a bloody brilliant road car!

IMO the power delivery of the turbo ruins the car for me.  The VXR in every other sense is a delight, the horrible piece of gashomania turbo lump is the only thing about it I would change.  you can definitely feel the extra weight in the arse compared to the NA and it loses some of it's composure more quickly, especially on mid-corner bumps.

The way I see it is that everything on the VXR feels alert, immediate, and responsive.... Except that engine and it ruins it for me :( When it's on boost though.... rallly but you have to work hard and be pushing all the time to keep it there.

I have been toying with supercharging the NA once the VXR is sold, and right now, I just don't know.  I might look at the NA tuning route once people get some results with the Dutch ECU :D  I am not going ITB though. :P

Have a word with oakmere when he gets back of his holiday, his Na has a few tricks and is lovely We think its over 200 bhp and he is on Dutch ECU and its Titan gold dont think its the cheapest way of getting over 200 bhp but it keeps everything NA and all it's benefits

Snetterton is a power circuit so you will really enjoy the new found power. You also won't get left behind so much as some of the bends need real dedication and balls. You'll enjoy bomb hole (maybe not at first) if you have good tyres you will reach speeds up and over 85mph. Have fun :)

Personally I cant see how the charger can be all that different to having half a tank more of petrol as it is not very heavy, the revived poster was asking about handling and shocks and I would say it has very little effect.

People have suggested my stage 1 SC was kind of pointless when stage 2 is so easily achievable but it is simply a bit more umph to the standard n/a, no worse no better handling, just quicker.

Gordon.... Stick with your NA... She loves you.. Increase in power just means that you need to tweak everything else on the car to handle that increase. Tweaking = £££ Myself, wouldn't go back to a std tubby... But starting there is the better option, then to work up.

The thing that worries me about an NA supercharger (and I no doubt its been debated to death) is that whine, I haven't actually been in an NA or near one with a SC but in any YouTube video the whine is earbleedingly loud, is it really that loud in reality? On the videos it sounds much louder than the actual engine!

Yes it is loud but normal pottering about there is nothing. When you wring its neck, sure it whines, but it is a very satisfying noise actually. To me, the noise adds to the theatre of the car. Plus, when you smash it down a road with lots of people, they drop their ice creams in fright and bewilderment as I saw today. Sorry, whoever you were :D

I can imagine!

I guess it doesnt sound traditionally 'mechanical' more like there is something wrong with the car rather than something very right with it!

Does the stage 1 require a richer map than stage 2 or is it simply not running enough boost for inlet temperatures to be an issue? I quite like the simplicity of it and not needing to change the exhaust. How are you finding it?

Don't worry about the wine,I have been in a few and the wine just lets you know you are now in super pursuit mode, Normally its just well normal then when you want it to scream thats what it will do.Its on the plus side of my to SC or not list, its frigging awesome. I love it.

Oh and yes when you nail it big time its loud and addictive. I think I need one  or do I ?

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.
