Well I have been looking around for a cheap turbo, but thinking about getting a decent low mile NA and put a SC on it next year...

Problem solved Gordon Have one I've spent a little time driving the car since HH (not as much time as I've been working on it) And I've now decided its all worth it, It is a different drive from the NA but I've now decided its worth it and driven right you can drive it almost as hard, just longer in the brakes Seriously Gordon I've changed my mind its lost next to nothing on the NA and is a lot more car. And I now think Margo ( the car) has got me to love her more than i did when it was a NA ( didn't even give it a name as a NA)

Plus, when you smash it down a road with lots of people, they drop their ice creams in fright and bewilderment as I saw today. Sorry, whoever you were :D

That made me laugh, good one. :)

The thing that worries me about an NA supercharger (and I no doubt its been debated to death) is that whine, I haven't actually been in an NA or near one with a SC but in any YouTube video the whine is earbleedingly loud, is it really that loud in reality? On the videos it sounds much louder than the actual engine!

You hear nothing with the standard airbox still attached. But those people do not post youtube's of it.

Exactly that. Bit hard to judge a daily drive kind of situation based on trackday footage (especially of a stage 3 car with silly air filters).

I will post a vid of mine with a std air box, though it is open bottom! cos I could not get it to fit any other way.  It's not silent but the whine is quite nice really.

Need to record it first but will get something posted.

Thank you, all, for your advice.   There are good arguments for both (all) routes to more power...

Not the best video but it lets you know not to expect a whine free drive with a modified 'standard' airbox.

Thanks mate, it is just intermittent rather than a constant whine. Really appreciate that vid.

Scary insurance prices though compared to a turbo - did a quick check £300 for the NA, £350 for the turbo, £750+ for the SC - all on price comparison sites.

Decisions decisions eh.

You could drive all day without it whining if you wanted to.

Mine went up about £100 from n/a to SC.
