pay special attention to the 0% map delta difference

and the throttle speed at 1000rpm  when stationary

These are different type TB's, right? And what injectors are fitted Daan??

@TFD; the ecu notrmally controls idle rpm fluctuationswith ignition changes (fast) and if that is not sufficient it will start using the TB flap (slow).

Normally when you have a vac leak the ecu closes the TB flap fully and then starts retarding ignition to lower rpms. Your's is doing somethng different. EGR is removed I assume? Maybe a dirty TB flow (clean) or maybe, if still fitted, the EVAP valve is leaking fuel vapours at idle? (temp close off?)

Just thinking out loud...

I'm using the 58mm stock TB and Chill is using the 68 of LV4? TB.

Injectors are the vxr 470cc blue ones.

EGR is removed and blanked off.

Will check the vacuumlines, give the TB a good clean and check the connectors.

Ofcourse... after i tried the maps... cause that's a lot easier to do  :P

(allthough my gut says it's a mechanical thing..)

Also check the evap line from the charcoal cannister (simply block off to test)

Cleaned the throttlebody and it is shiny again:
Posted Image

Moved the evap from the manifold to the intakepipe.

No improvement on idle. The evap can now always relieve cause of the permanent vacuum on the intakepipe.

Did some driving and learning etc. At home I found out that the idle sounds better when I adjust the ignition timing at the "idle"-tab.

At 20kpa it says 9.6 ign.timing.
At 30kpa it says 5.4 ign.timing.
Now my vacuum at idle runs between 29-31kpa, so I think this may cause the timing hunt...
When I adjust the timing at 30kpa to 11ish ign.timing the idle sounds smooth.

The throttlevalve is also more steady now. Will post a pic.

Have to clarify this tomorrow as I had limited time left.

That is what I would have advised if running higher lift cams. Std cam setup is normally happy with the std settings? Set all idle ignition cells the same and make sure the main ignition table is the same or higher than your idle ignition. What you don't want is a sudden drop in ignition or the engine dies as you pull away.

another update ( PRO )

  • Less aggressive settings for P3501 for wideband fuel control.

Issue seems to be solved! Retarded the throttle/valve relation and added some more timing to the 30kpa cell at the idle-tab. Can take off easely now without pushing the throttle.

I think there can be some more efficiency gained on the intake part. Like the OEM N/A setup, the IC pipes are connected on a 90 degree angle to the throttlebody. This is not a good situation when it comes to flow.

Will fix that if I make a different intake manifold.

The Z20LET setup is like this and even though the OEM setup seems to drive fine, I always wondered about it.

@nev: The less bends the better.. especially so close to the throttle. Makes to much turbulance. Think about fitting a SR20DET intake manifold who has a direct connection. @Chill: Thanx for the effort!
