So is this saying yes you can, but results are only viewable using the software?

yes you can, but it's just for logging and making manual/offline tweaks (still very useful and it's the thing I missed most when moving from megasquirt to dta)

The car has done a hundred or so miles on the final map. The car feels much better at part throttle and any sign of strange rattle on the CS map has gone. I have my scan gauge connected up again and the long term fuel trims are now no greater than +/- 5. This is much better than the +/- 25 I was getting previously. Also reading a little from the HP tuners site the ECU can't set the AFR correctly if the base fuel table is over > +/- 10 so fuelling will be incorrect.

Part throttle and throtle response is where you will notice the correct mapping over the Courtenay stage 2 maps.
You will never get the trims at zero as they fluctuate with weatherconditions, but you should try to get them a little closer than +/-5...
(With the LSJ+HPTuners I'm trying to get it everywhere below 2 and most area's are below 1.)

Mine are generally between 0 and 4 with only 1 fuel learn session. I am sure if I were to do it again it would get even closer. The only time I see higher values are for a split second on lift off where I have seen -8 fuel trims. I am not sure if this is a cell that didn't get many hits on the first session or if it is transitional fuelling?

with all the remaps I have had from CS , the LTFT has settled at -7% , varies a little on what fuel , so by default the fuel map is rich on part throttle

Ive been having a good read over this and it seems like something i want to do. The hassle of not traveling to cs makes it worth the extra money for me and then having the power to change the map when ever i want. The questions i need to find out are how many harrop cars are on this and what sort of bhp are they pulling? Is it worth the wait to see how this progress or should i look to book a slot at CS?.

None as far as i know. (All running on B207 like Ultimate afaik). Shitloads of stage 2 and 3 on z22se running the M62 on it though. Peter himself runs a rotrex on it. Combination of harrop on Z22SE and dutch software is just very new. Somebody needs to be first :poke: Power output has nothing to do with the dutch software. (at least not much) It's all hardware doing that. Nick pulled 377 on courtenay map, so there is your answer. Over 330 isch horsies temps come into place, and fuel pressure. Most of that is still in R&D fase to get conclusions. It's the 33% increase in torque you will notice most i guess. (300nm isch to 400nm isch)

I might be interested in doing this but not sure i want to be the first as its alot of money to do it for it not to be 100% I will be watching a close eye on it to see what happens. I like the fact the fueling issues are sorted and no more over fueling. How many of the harrop lads on this forum are going to go do this route?

Some weeks ago I did the first road-log/mapping of my mates new Z20NET/B207 + Harrop + LSJ ecu for just the closed loop area (idle/cruise/low load). I use a histogram where I log the Long Term fuel trims + Short Term trims added together and the 1st map correction got most of the logged cells already below 1.
(He wants to get some more miles on the engine before we will tackle the higer load mapping. For this we log an analog wideband 0-5v signal and compare WB measured AFR vs. ecu Commanded AFR.)

Like your's, transitional fuelling or lift off (very low MAP cell) gets the weird spikes. On these low MAP areas the injectors also have a non-linear behaviour and those settings can be a bit off...

for those worried about the price, let me explain like this The downside it technically it has less features and is less flexible than a standalone ecu. But there's no doubt that it's going to have lots of people going for it which means there's going to be maps available and development to fix any bugs there may be. Considering a custom mapping session on standalone ecu is very minimum 400 +vat for only a few hours work, the volume of people that will/are using peter software means there'll be much better maps developed for our exact engine, essentially for free when we all share them. My DTA needs a new map right now since the map it has was on an engine which was in a bad way.. not to mention emissions issues which I've had ever since going standalone.. so I have choice of paying probably 500 for a remap or just get peter software for 750 and hopefully not worry about emissions ever again.. and flog my S40 and STC which should recoup most of that cost.. So really I think it's win-win and is an absolute bargain if it's as up to the job as people say

In theory... given you can save and load various maps would it be possible to have a decat pipe in and have map adjusted to pass emissions for MOT?

Exmantaa I like the look of the HP tuners software. It has more flexibility than the OBD tuner software but is a little more complex for a beginner. The OBD tuner has most of the features I require just idle mapping that needs a little work. I think the HP Tuners software has the flexibility to alter AFR and how ignition controls idle to prevent the over correction loop?

Think you're correct that the HPTuners + LSJ ecu is more flexible, but it also requires you to be more precise with alterations. There are so many tables and it's very easy to mess up your mapping...
Peter made his OBD software as safe as possible to use with lots of pre-selections. (f.i the choice between several possible injectors, while HPTuners simply let you input the raw injector settings: More work, but for an experienced user more flexibility.)

OBD (should) also let's you alter the needed AFR, but indeed HPTuners has some specific under- & overspeed tables for idle control. Need to work on those, as my lighter flywheel and longer O2 sensor distance makes the LSJ idle hunt a little bit. Switched to open loop it's rock steady...

But the major advantage of HPT is the Scanner program. This is very powerfull tool when used right. It let's you monitor every engine parameter in almost every combination and makes for easy mapping or fault searching.
Only HPTuners, like OBD, cannot make magical horsepower for your engine.

When I spoke to them last they had a new standalone mapped by the same guy. It was around the £400 area plus mapping.
