It is only permanent when you click program the ECU. When you do this a message will come up saying do not switch off ignition and if the car is at idle it will stall the engine don't worry about this. If you simply send the calibration to the ECU the data will be lost when you switch off the ignition

Does this mean it goes back to base map when ignition is switched off

Yes back to base map when you switch off. As long as you have saved the info you can apply it to the ecu any time. Connect the ECU to pc, open the OBD tuner, open saved map and send data to ECU. Then program the ECU. Job done.

That's what I did today, Technically you could build different maps for different air pressure or air temp I was surprised how different the cell data was from today from yesterday

The ECU will adjust to air pressure and temp automatically.

Think I'll be taking the plung but just a couple of last questions... The target AFR for Open Loop Whilst I understand that it should be 14.7 whilst throttle and rpm are low and then get richer as either increases how should the speed and position that this occurs be chosen? Or would this be left alone? Same for the air/coolant temp adjustments, I understand the theory but how would you decide the optimum values? Transient fuel settings Huh? My understanding is this can adjust the speed the butterfly reacts to the pedal (and if you do so, you then need to adjust the fuelling to take this into account) but I wouldn't have a scooby where to start here. Any ideas's?

Have you adjusted this from what Peter sent you?
It's different from the screenshot example but don't know if this is Peters adjustments based on the list of mods you supplied him or your adjustment? If you adjusted this what was the theory?

Ta, less adjustment for inlet and coolant temp on your map

I would of thought that them results are dependant on base map or which ever map you currently have saved to the perminant memory in the ECU

Yes and no, it's easier (for me) to think of it as a 3D table. With temp being the 3rd axis. So in the example screenshot the target AFR would be: 2560rpm @ 60kPa with 94C coolant and 44C inlet would be 12.7 The whole lot is loaded onto the ECU permanently. The car needs to run richer when hot to combat the heat (well that's my understanding but someone with more knowledge may confirm/correct)

A point I will make that the coolant temp would never go above 100 degrees in my car because Peter set my fan to activate at 98 which would make the hotter coolant temp a waste of time

I have left all the parameters you have mentioned alone. The only thing I tried changing was the full throttle AFR but the one supplied gave the best power. After I had done all the required learning sessions and ignition adjustments I sent a full data log of 30 mins driving so Peter could check the transition data was good for my setup.

thumbsup

Can I assume Peter would be happy to have quick glance at a log from everyone who purchased the software once they think they're there with the mapping.

Yes, as long as you are aware that the good man has a dayjob and may not respond within a day.
I have found him always helpfull, even when i did plain stupid things with the software, like not updating the ecu after receiving an update from him, doing wrong logging etc.
Very, very patient man. Kuddo´s to him on that.
