If you send the ECU that's on the car now with a new ECU from eBay Astra vectra or VX he will put the codes on to the new ECU

But your old ECU will be near worthless secondhand, without the matching immobiliser transponder and key chips that will still be on your car to marry up with the replacement ECU. Without them, it's unusable.

The germans sell most of their ecu´s after unpairing them with opcom, making them as good as ready for the new car.

Not sure why over here things are so difficult.

It's not any harder here. I've never seen it successfully done (only ever tried on 3 remapped ECU's) and only ever once been able to add an additional key to a car (totally standard). But, if you have the original ECU security code and have OPCOM and unpair the ECU from the transponder on the car before it's taken off, you may be able to flog it for more than £30. Happy now? thumbsup

I seem to have struck a nerve here

You know you´re one of the happy few who can get that shite roemanian software running at all. chinky chinky

I´ll poll with ze germans to see if they can provide a step by step.

Did this several times with the OpCom, but without the correct 4 digit code you are stuck... ;-)

Ow, and to add; the immobiliser reprogramming is disabled in the OBD firmware, so no easy swapping of OBD ecu's...

if you get an astra ecu just make sure it comes with matching keys/chips and immo unit, then you just switch the immo units, remove the chip from the astra key and put it in the vx220 key

I did this and it worked out better because I only had 1 key before but the new ecu came with 2 chips :)

Anyone have any idea when V3 is coming out? Seems silly to take the plunge now if it's due out any time soon.

Not anywhere soon was the answer from the man himself when asked.

I'm guessing (in a very uneducated and uninformed way) that it will be more like the change from V1 to V2 and so the ECU will need posting back?

Just out of curiosity, how many people use this software now in Europe?

A guestimate would be somewhere between 50 and 100. (V1 and V2)
