Very few SC cars will be making power above 7400 rpm (Harrop may be an exception). When you get around to power runs see where you make max Power and limit around that point. People have had problems with std valve springs above 7200 rpm. Remember the forces on the engine components from 6800 rpm to 7800 will have doubled. So don't use more than you need!

is it worth doing even if you just fit the 2.4 manifold ??

in opposite to smileys direct reply, I would say: YES.

I have had a special mapping on board before and the mapping of obdtuner is better in all points. Plus it has set free some more ponies and the engine revs another step more free, more racier.

overall advantage: if you go later further on with mild or greater mods, you have your perfect mapping already in your back :)

peter sent me my license key by e-mail,

but i think if you read ECU to PC (from base map) i think the key might come up automatically

Ok no problem. I was just reading through his manual and it says a firmware might need to be bought so wasn't sure if I needed to pay for something else.

No, peter should mail you they key for free.

It's linked to your specific ecu though, so not a general key.

Sounds good. Think I'm all set now and just waiting for the ecu to come back. Had a good read through his manual tonight and I must admit it looks harder then I thought so hope you don't mind if Im asking loads of daft questions as I tend to over think things to much.

I think the hardest thing was getting the ECU and PC to talk to each other in the setting of lap top

Neil,

Thankfully you've built me an engine that thrives on abuse (that's what I tell myself) My car spends much of its time up at the top end of the rev range & I have no intention to stop. I've also not noticed any noticeable drop off in power up at the very top end. The 4.17 forces you to use the revs. I don't find it an issue although I do have a spare 4.17 fully rebuilt & ready to go.

If that's ok I will. I've got a full tank tonight so just waiting for the laptop to come back then I can get off out and do some mapping.

A question so apart from sending ecu away to be Programed and a lap top and lead what else is required As in does it require a obd2 reader or scangage Or is all of it done with just pc?

In it's most basic setup, that's all that's required. A wideband lambda wired into the EGR loom is an option (but you need to keep the two OEM lambda sensors in place and connected). If you were supercharged, a TMAP sensor wired into the original MAP sensor loom and the old IAT sensor loom is a good call to measure inlet temps in the inlet manifold instead of pre-throttle body.

Then just a nice long stretch of smooth as possible road.

The laptop and the OBDTuner Windows GUI software can/will act as an OBD2/Scanguage on steroids, if you need it to.

It's all done with the laptop. Very simple once you get familiar with the software
