I would not have thought so. The map sensor tells the ECU how much boost you are producing so less boost at any given rpm = a different part of the fuel map. Get a new O2 sensor they are only £50. Mine has felt better since installing a new one and the fuel trims are much lower.

Got them cheers nick, I reset the fuel trims yesterday will go for a drive tomorrow and see if they are still well out, Also have only recently done a new fuel learn since opening up Pcv system fully So I will go back to original map reset the fuel trims and see if there still well off Before the last fuel learn they were never more than 3% so will see what they are like on older map before changing sensor just to confirm it wasent a dodgy map

Fan coming on is pre lambda sensor for me. It wasn't show up on the software that lambda wasn't working properly. Replaced with a new one and it fixed the problem. I think over time the lambda was still working but it has started to get lazy and wasn't function 100 percent.

So tomorrow I'm going to do the first fuel learn. I've been over the manual a number of times, but just want to be clear.

I can put the car into learn mode, disconnect the laptop and drive it until the EML goes out.

Get back (leaving the car running) and plug the laptop in. Read ECU then save the new data as a file on the laptop.

Now I was going to take a look at the new data (I mean post it here for some help) before I make it premanent to the ECU.

Does that sound about right?

Also, a line in the manual has concerned me. It mentions about doing full throttle runs (with the engine runnig lean) and the possibility of damaging it (I don't have a wideband installed). Is this cause for concern or am I just being paranoid?

Any hints or tips appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

It's up to you but if you leave it connected then click read ecu to PC it will show you which cells you have already achieved enough data And a wideband is only necessary for above stage 2

Only reason I am disconnecting is because the laptop battery is fubarred. Guess I could always plug it in to the cigarette lighter. How about the full throttle learn whilst its running lean?

If your stage 2 you won't be running lean for to long The instruction say after a full power fuel learn run allow the engine to recover by driving at low revs for a minute before doing a other full throttle run. Don't get confused between higher power (above stage 2 250 ish bhp ) and stage 2 and below There is no need for wideband if you allow engine to recover

Absolutely no reason to keep the laptop plugged in a d running. Warm the car up, connect software and enable fuel learn. Close laptop and drive. Once done don't turn the car off (done that too many times!). Connect laptop, read from ECU, process learnt cells, write to ECU, make permanent and done!

Also you can just carry out a low speed Learn first. So don't go above 4-5k rpm. This will allow you to see how it all works and how applying the changes changes the base map. It is easy to get most cells below 4k it get a little more tricky above 4k. Best to get your self on a motorway in the early hours stick it in 3rd gear and abuse it then let it cool down. There will be plenty of cells in the 4-7k range you never hit don't worry about this. Send the final results and a log to Peter just to be sure all is well, Have fun

When i click learn mode, the drop down says learn 'main' fuel table. But the manual says it should say learn 'base' fuel table.

Is this one and the same?

Also, i have a pop up window that says 'all data logged by the ecu will be erased. Continue?'.

Does that sound right? If i made a mess of things, is it going to wipe the fuel seetings on the base map that peter supplied?

Cheers

Same, same. Go for it. It won't wipe the map. It's warning that if you'd fine other fuel learn out power run logging prior it will be wiped.
