Did you ask Peter for the latest "track oriented" tune? (for the expected higher IAT's..)

That's a good one.

Not that i will need it this Friday, as it looks now, but may come in handy.

Is Peter going to be there on Friday? Or does the thought of being pestered all day by 20 VX and Speedster owners fill him with dread?

So go back to base map add the fuel learn
But don't smooth it until you do the wideband WOT mapping then smooth it out

okidokie.

You think just another fuel session will help me get the knock out?

Here's the result from yesterday evening, trying to smooth the basemap (with my small knock issue at low rpm)
I managed to turn my mountain into a W shape.  with just a small correction.

I think you're right Chris. This is going to take forever to get spot on. :glare:

Not sure where he is with his car now.

He sold the rotrex kit to MarkV (www.verboom.net) and was planning to put a turbo on.

Unfortunately he's not much of a forum poster, and his name is not on the list for friday. So i doubt he wil be there.

FYI I also went through the heavy knock values you are seeing and found tHe sweet spot on the other side ie more ignition

I'm a little underwhelmed with it, since fitting it, if I'm honest. Apart from the cold running improvements and the flexibility of changing components at will, the whole car feels a bit lethargic when compared with the original Courtenay map and it has a nasty occasional misfire type thing (a little like you get with a Scangauge connected) when making progress and shifting quickly between gears. Hadn't encountered the misfire until I applied a different map from Peter to better handle aftermarket cams.

How did you find that one out, as it's pretty scary to dial in more ignition when you have knock...

After spending even longer to get the car to run well on the cams I basically took a punt and added a lot of ignition The car ran better immediately so I took it from there and did a knock learn session which pulled the ignition down where knock was detected by the ecu It was a last resort because I couldn't get it to make anything like the power I was expecting

I don't recommend doing it unless your really ready to take a Risk At the time I think it was the first UK Saab 2.2 with stage 2 cams (zzp) So everything was a unknown

Personally thought that the ECU/software was retarding the car to keep it safe So the only risk in my eyes was could the ecu continue to retard the ignition enough if the knock went worse
