Not driven an X5 so cant comment how they feel but if you like the turbo then go for it.

Dumb questions are fine but people will get grumpy if they are constant and not to mention about 0-60s and crap. The vx is not the right car if thats your cup of tea.

To me the 0-60 is there just to give me an idea of what the engine is capable of and appreciate it's not the be and end all. What I'm after is something raw that you can be more intouch with the tarmac in. A drivers car without all the traction control mallarcy. When it comes to fast things I've always had bikes, R1, Duc 916 and currently GSXR 1000. But now I want fun on 4 wheels but will be using (probably) every day. Does anybody else use their VX everyday?

Yep I found that using mine daily spoilt the 'special' feeling and getting a shed to commute was the best thing.

That was suggested to me as it goes & sounds like a plan.

Is it the yellow one in this thread?

http://www.vx220.org...now-these-cars/

Soooo glad you put this up for my attention....yes it is! Think you've saved me a journey there cheers.

Try not to let little things put you off a VX, I'm sure most can be picked on for this and that (I know mine can sometimes)

Best to go see them, don't forget, you can fix most things yourself, which is a very good way of getting to know the car, making it more yours..

You are a legend. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. A true VX die hard. Plus you have great plugs.

No probs. Your call if you go and see it...

Turns out that this yellow VX was only 25 mins away from me so decided to go and have a look earlier today.

The findings were similar to the other chap on the site, think his name was adam, but I found more things wrong...A good handfull or more cracks in various places on the rear clam. N/S/R has been repaired to a bad standard as the rear light, air intake and clam where it meets the sill do not line up, not to mention the lower exhaust is crooked. Exhaust mesh badly damaged too. The crack on the drivers sill has now been badly disguised with a tacky carbon sticker with the original VX Turbo badge stuck on top. The fact there is no carbon sticker on the other door sill is a bit of a giveaway that somethings wrong. Lots of overspray in places underneath where rear of vehicle has been resparayed (badly). Lots of sinkage, ringing and scratches in the paintwork across the back just behind the engine cover not to mention crap in the paint that hasn't been flatted and polished by the paint shop, too late now, you'd struggle to get any sort of shine if you flatted it now. Both doors need aligning correctly too, N/S is too high & O/S has dropped.

It's such a shame as they are asking next to top money and won't budge. The inside is in great condition, soft top in great condition, nothing wrong with front end apart from usual stonechips and it's had the wheels re-furbished. Service history up to date with recent receipts.

To sort out back end and other niggles would cost close to a grand if done properley.

Hope this helps anyone else whose thinking of taking a look.

Did you get a drive of it/in it? Can't remember if it's a private sale or a dealer.

Couldn't get past the state of the bodywork on the back so didn't bother asking for a drive. IMC (dealer).

Have asked for a call back on a VXR then bloomin realised its in Harrowgate

Yeh this is a lovely one and I think you're right...the budget is gonna have to go up a couple of k's.

Way up north from me though so not sure if I will make the journey yet but at the same price as the VXR I'd have to go for that if they are in a similar condition.

Preferebly after yellow or red in that order but may have to settle for one in a dif colour. The black one at Plans being so close to me is starting to look good.....

Well, basically it's a black 2006 Turbo with 35000 miles. 2 owners from new, completely stock, not one mod, fsh excellent condition inside and out apart from expected stone chips to front but not that bad and slight wear to drivers seat bolster. The question I hear you ask is how much did I pay? The deal was made for £11800 was originally up for £12495 when I first saw it. Can't wait to pick it up... I'm praying for a dry Saturday :-)
