you mean a long diffuser sticking out the back?
The flow simulation I did showed that there was far more down force to be gained by extending the vanes down to to the minimum ground clearance than extending it out the back of the car if your sticking with a 110+mm ride hight.
Part of the regs are that you have to retain the silhouette of the car so this possibly may not be allowed
Can't find the 2013 regs but from the 2012 regs
5.8.2. Modifications to the silhouette may be permitted subject to all of the following
conditions:
Such modifications are:
• Fitted for safety or efficiency ( for example to aid cooling of either interior cabin or engine bay without a significant performance advantage)
• Approved by the series organisers and scrutineers in advance.
• In keeping with the spirit of the series (modifications that give a significant performance advantage at a high financial cost will almost certainly be illegal or outlawed in future regulations).
.
I would think you've got more change of getting a diffuser made of a few quids worth of ali sheet past them than a big carbon wing.
Cars last year were running wings, I would have thought ali sheet hanging down would change the silhouette more than a wing. Its a grey area that I will try and get clarified on the launch day on the 18th Feb

Car went to TDi today for a power run and to be weighed. Came in at 876kg with 18 litres of fuel and 128bhp at the hubs (according to them that equates to about 145 at the flywheel) so that will be 146bhp per ton. My initial calculations were done (stupidly) thinking it was power at the flywheel and not the hubs. That means as long as we can negate the extra weight of the cage (which we will) we will be in class C (up to 150bhp/ton) not class B. Straight back to BoT afterwards and its now stripped out waiting for the cage to be delivered.
You do realise this paragraph makes no sense at all?
So have you moved up or down? Can you now strip more weight or do you need to leave it as is? Whats the diff between B or C?
... and I thought the Dutch were a bit veird?
I am not worried about the shortened timelines at all ... if the boys at BoT can take a two week Xmas break, they are obviously not busy ... LOL!

Oh and I realise the Elise will be such a diff beast from the VX that I am now offering you to drive my VX on Oulton which you lend me your Elise on the same day and £300 my way?!?

the first bit made sense:
Mark thought the car was going to be in class B (175bhp/ton) but because its power at the wheels not at the fly which is measured, then the vx goes down a class to class C (150bhp/ton).
Then the second bit didn't since adding weight (of the roll cage) would make the bhp/ton go down and maintain you in class C

But you'll lose quite a bit of that wight with TD wheels, nitrons, etc

and interior out, headlights out, single skin roof, perspex windows etc. etc.
Sorry Geert but it all makes perfect sense to us
