Hiya, Where's the brake light switch on the VX220? My brake lights are only coming on when I fully - I mean fully - push the brake pedal and not at all with light or intermediate pressure! Had a look around the brake pedal but can't see a spring or a switch that I could try and adjust. It's hard to get in and look there in the footwell but should I see something?? If yes, photo anyone?? Thanks for help.

Its under the bonnet hidden away below the screen. Its a real PITA to get to! You'll see it if you look there, just open the bonnet and imagine looking for the top of the pedal. Its a ford part!

:yeahthat:

No idea how you're meant to get to it as it's mounted to the side of the pedal box closest to the passenger compartment.

IIRC its a 1/4 turn cam lock affair that retains it in place. It is a real knuckle-skinner to get it out though. 65 quid for a new one from vauxhall, 15 quid from lotus and probably about a penny from ford

Thanks for help guys. After a bit of upside down work in the footwell to see what's going on, switch was removed from under the bonnet - temporarily removing the bonnet catch gave a little bit more access to the switch, which could then be adjusted. Just out of interest, do you know how come it is a Ford part?? Thanks again.

Mine has the blue oval moulded into it. Bit of a give-away.

My car appears to have a switch for the brake pedal behind the pedal, in the cabin, is this for the ECU rather than for the brake lights? EDIT: I assume this is #1 in the diagram above, the brake lights being activated by #4?

There's 2 versions, yours sounds like it's the cabin one. Climb into the passenger well upside down, unclip switch and turn 90Degrees and pull out. The plunger is on a ratchet for different cars, pull/push to suit or buy new one if it's gone.

Lotus just do this for a laugh it seems (suspect in reality it's a cost thing) - mirrors are from metros as I understand it? Lolface
