Do you power them at 100 % in normal operation? Most DLR LEDs are operated at 50 % using a PWM to a target brightness and extend the life of the LEDs.

I have another set of rings coming over and I will measure the pwm (duty cycle) in normal mode of these rings and original hardware. In my new hardware setup lowering the brightness will be done with pwm (lowering duty cycle) and logical behavior with the help of a small arduino.

Run them on a lower duty cycle. Most OEMs operate at 50 % duty cycle on full. Drops to ~10-20 % when dimmed for indicators/ dipped beam ect.

Also worth adding a heat strip to the unit to monitor temperatures. Suspect things get quite hot there.
