Pretty much the standard tyres that come with the car, well the 40's anyway. They will be fine for road driving/everyday use, not that track orientated but depends what you have planned etc etc.

I have R1Rs and they are amazing, but to be honest I would have happiy had AD08s. I would say either and whichever you can physically get hold of for the least amount of money lol. I use the sizes mentioned on TDs and there's no rubbing at all.

I have AD08s fitted to my TDs. I've done maybe 4000 miles and three track days on them and they still have a bit of life left in the yet. I'm almost certainly not pushing them to their limit on track but pretty happy with them and they were fine driving thought the monsoon to the national last year :)

I've gone for some Federal 595 RS-R's 205/45/16 and 225/45/17, all for £330 delivered.

Slightly off topic but i've got a new set of toe links to go on the rear, they're genuine vauxhall items, they'll be alright for 595's for a year or so won't they?

yes, I run standard turbo links on mine. Looking at going for an aftermarket toe link kit as the parts on mine are the second set from factory so really ought to be replaced, >80K miles

Havent used them yet myself but a lot of my friends do

I've looked at these, very cheap for a particular non-usual VX size I'm after but they do have mixed reviews online, any bad experiences from your mates perspective?

None

Another vote for tyre penis (snigger). I've used them before and was impressed with price and delivery speed...

I've used federal 595's and yoko ad08's on my m3. The ad08 has more initial tread than the federals and have taken track abuse with very little wear, I'd say the ad08's lasted twice as long as the federals, but the 595's are grippier on a dry warm day. It may be different for a vx though as there's a big weight difference!

are these the federal RS-R on your M3 , as I have just replaced a set on the VX and the wear across the middle and outer was near perfect on the rears.

In my opinion stick some tyres on it and drive it within the limits of the tyres, your ability etc. The average driver would normally drive well within the limits of even cheaper tyres. The tyres on my OZ's are 'Hero' and for the life of me I cannot wear them out (had the car 3 years now), they squeal a bit on track and the car moves around but it has not distracted from my fun. Of course if you are going SC'd then you may well need stickier tyres but if you've only driven with sticky tyres you'll be a bit buggered if they do let go on a high speed corner!

Yes federal 595 rsr. The wear was nice and even across the tyre ( non standard geometry) but they just didn't last as long. Lots of grip though. I'd buy again. Just depends on the grip/ lifetime compromise that suits you.

Dont over think it, pick one and buy them........far too many opinions when it comes to tyres....most based on what somebody else said, the only way to find a tyre to suit your vehicle and your driving is to try them.....
