I find it interesting that a seat made entirely from carbon with a 200g twill layer each side (for prettiness) would be 20% stronger than a seat made entirely from carbon with a 200g twill layer on just the outside. I'd imagine a seat would have to be 3mm thick at least so the additional layer would do very little. (200g layer will add around 0.1mm thickness).

Are you using some sort of core material in the twin skin seats to add the strength?

sp-1 seats are made on 200gr twill carbon fiber as first layer, then satin 600 gr.
twin skin has a rear cover, ( just 3 layer ) but fixed with a structural resin/glue on the seat , add more rigidity, but at same time, keep low weight.
( sorry for my english, its hard to explain )

we sell directly, retailer less, to keep 'lower' price than others high ends brands.
these seats are laminated with a new resin, specifics for carbon looks, that as gelcotat, is UV prtected. ( first layer. )
yes, twin skin is stronger than single skin, about 20%.
here is an example:

Sp-1 single skin ( carbon or carbon kevlar same price ) 499 euro each
Sp-1 twin skin ( carbon/carbon kevlar same price, combo available ) 649 euro each
suede cover, any color and stitches ( complete with Velcro ) : 89 euro each
dress-up kit any color : 19 each.
90 euro shipping and handling for a set of seats.
for this forum members, i can give free 'lotus specifics' under seats bracket with hardware. ( about 80 euro less )
here, some say that sp-1s are more confortable than OEM seats. clients feedback..

Do we have to add the VAT on top of that ? or is is included ?

Makes perfect sense. Your english is top notch, no apologies required at all! The twin skin ones are a two piece moulding bonded together. The extra strength comes from the surface separation of the two parts. That must add a fair amount of extra labour!

In the past I have seen seats that were done as a single lay-up with a star pattern of ribs down the back to add the rigidity whilst retaining the lightness of the single skin. Might be a good intermediate between your two seats?

After buying a Tillet and having to sell it on due to it not fitting my frame - I would not consider buying seats without trying them first. I tried the Tillet before buying and was 50/50 I wish I had not bothered. Would not buy any seats again unless I was 100% sure Kind regards, Paul

I must admit that I am very tempted to order one. I have not found too many seats that I do not fit into. One of the good points of only being 5'6'' tall and average build. I usually have to pad my seats out to fit me properly. I just bought a JK composite seat too, but that can fit in the passengers.

I Found the Tillet B5 perfect for me but I did try every seat I could find at Autosport. So as you say never buy from pictures or recomendations, it's not just the money but the fact that you could well be sat in that for hours on end, as comfortable as mine are they can still get tiresome on long trips, at the end of the day they have little padding no matter how well they fit you.
I have always told anyone that asked to be under no illusions, if you want it to be just right for you don't expect to just fit the seat and adjust the tilt to your liking. You will have to be prepared to spend time on it.
It must have taken me about 20 trial fits, re adjustments and modifications before I was happy. Had to remove the head rest pads/supports, make a one off harness bar, etc, etc.
However I am tall so I was struggling for space, a shorter person will prob find it much easier to get the seat where and how they want it.

Looks like I'm going to be the Guinea pig for this one. Just placed an order for a set of single skin carbon seats and dark grey suede seat covers. Great service so far so let's see. Ill keep interested parties updated with service etc.. Once I've got them ill post some photos up. Anyone interested in a ride will have to let me know and we'll see what we can sort out. Pete
