The rear upper wishbones angle back quite a bit. Quite dramatic compared to my rover elise. Is that how they get the extra wheelbase? I'd always assumed the pickups were moved.

Actually they angle forward.

The rear suspension pickup points on the subframe are quite a bit further back than on the Rover powered Elises.

ive built 95% of the rear up just waiting on some new abs brackets no pics yet but will get some up when its finished but im having a night mare on the upper wishbones getting the castor shims back in along side the two wishbone mounts on each side

the big shims are fine but what were lotus thinking putting them small ones in there almost impossible to line up all 4 with the wishbone and the bolt holes when its blind

then you have to get a bolt through them

and a little side note which im happy about is that ive managed to go from 16 stone 4 to 15 stone 7 since boxing day

If you use the small washers it's hard work super glue them together or get the bigger caster washers from Elise parts ;-)

And use an old bolt that you grind to tapered point to help align/seat the washers and bushing and then slide the actual bolt in place.

Usually you use the tapered bolt from the reverse side and then push it out as you fit the actual bolt in it's place.

Still is a very annoying job, but it's a little better ;)

Bye, Arno.

I got them in this morning Thanks for advice The fact that the new bushes are wider than the originals makes it quite hard to get the shins in especially the small ones

I've already removed the radio to save a little bit of weight from the car but I'm going to make a major weight saving which is me the driver who currently stands at 16.5 stone ( 104 kg ) and my first target is 15 stone ( 95 kg ) before Feb when the car goes back on the road
So wish me luck with that .

Check the minimal lengh of your damper. My Öhlins will make the wishbones bang against the chassis when using lowering brackets.
