Chill any issues with doing obd power runs on a dyno and not the road? Will the software make any independent changes?

Brent crude (sourced from North Sea) typically has a higher knock resistance in it's original form than Arab sourced crude.

Tom can you divulge more about eastern fuel rather than North Sea fuel

I've had a explanation from peter Hi Chris, I did have a look at the log and there are few things happening: It looks like you did not drive very much full throttle after connecting the battery, the long term fuel trim for full power is at 0% so the ECU did not yet compensate for the weather conditions etc. Normally when driving on the track you also use the transition zone where the ECU is still in closed loop but already in the full throttle fuel trim. During this time the full throttle fuel trim gets learned. On a rolling road this zone is also not used, you probably did drive the car to the rolling road normally and once on the rolling road the operator will press the throttle fully open and the ECU did not have a change to adapt, this explains it was over fuelling around 5%. There was an error code set inside the ECU, this is because of the LS4 throttle body. In itself this is not a problem, this error code is a low priority code and does not make the MIL come on. But what it does do is put the ECU in an alarm mode where it will react faster on external things like knock and it also will activate the build in OEM protection mechanism sooner. One of the reasons to activate the OEM protection is keeping the throttle open during a certain time in this case for around 20-25 seconds. This time is depending on lots of factors like activity on the knock sensor, number of error codes set, temperatures, lambda values, engine rpm, vehicle speed etc. The rolling road runs were also reasonably long, the operator did already push the throttle fully open but kept the engine at around 2000rpm for about 5 seconds before giving it the opportunity to increase rpms. This caused the knock retard system to be activated which makes the ECU a bit paranoid. Hope this helps. For your information, the OEM protection system can be disabled in ObdTunerPro. Kind regards, Peter

To be clear, I'm talking about cuts of crude, not fuel. Fuel, while derived from crude, has been processed and octane boosters may have been added (in addition to other additives)

This is a good place to start: http://petrowiki.org...haracterization

Next version.

More options allowed. One more step closer to a full open ecu.

Support for water injection.

Maybe also E85, using multimap logic.

well its been quite a journey with all of this so far this year

but do i continue with last years map and get plenty of miles on it or maybe even a fuel learn session and then start building on it , or do i continue with the new map and start homing in on optimising it.

the tablet has worked very well on the magnets and wouldn't worry about taking it on track so thats good news

and a lesson ive learnt is get plenty of miles on the car before taking it on the RR especially if the battery goes flat or you havent used the car for a long period of time.

Did Peter comment on the early power drop off? Or is tnat maybe also due to the "OEM protection mode"?

And yeah, it's always a good idea to attend a RR session only with a full tuned/learned car without error codes..

As it reved a lot better after the fuel learning on the new map I would say it's somthing to with the safe mode while the fuel trims were wrong

But you still have the LS4 TB on it, so possible still have/get that internal error code (does that show up when you read-out the ecu?) with the early "activation OEM protection mechanism"...

I do have to say that this unknown new rabbit out of the ecu hat is a bit annoying if that is then responsible for the early power drop-off and so people are then chasing the wrong tail...

The error code is seen if you do a short log and select error codes if it's there I will check tomoz if it brings it up on the general tab But I've checked other logs I've done and the error code is there since I've had the LS4 on but I think the extra safe mode has been triggered because the fuel trims have been so far out until they stabilise The question now is have others who have had the issue Martin , bill also triggered these oem safe modes

The car has never been like it was on the RR But it did show knock which was not there before I think the best thing to do if you haven't used the car for some time is to go a short fuel learn followed by power runs and apply the AFR at WOT ( if you have a wideband smiley 😜 And Martin 😜 This way the trims would be close straight away

But your right the error code in logs is likely to be ls4 And not the oem protection I will email peter and ask if we get any indication of the oem extra protection or if it's somthing he can add a indicator of some sort

Still a bit strange that this protection mode was now tripped and possible cause for the early drop off now, as you did not experience that before, but I can imagine a detected TB fault makes an ecu very nervous.

(Fuel trims are there for a reason; to adjust your fuellling for different fuels and ambient conditions. 5% difference is not a lot and I don't expect people to do regular fuel learn sessions once their car is fully mapped...)
