You look a lot faster at the end of this video captain. The car is on the limit of grip......Not sure I like the tuition technique but it definitely had the desired results. Looks quick and smooth at the end. It's clear to see chilli clearly doesn't get his kicks from driving the car on its limits.... He likes to chuck loads of money at making it faster and enjoys the process. Nothing wrong with this as there are quite a few people on this forum that enjoy doing the same. For the people that do enjoy the driving this can be seen as frustrating, as they know the real enjoyment is controlling the car on the limit not feeling the thrust out of a corner. But at the end of the day none of us are going into F1 so who really cares!

Sorry if the above is a little harsh.... but in my eyes you spent 5k on the car and went no faster when you could have spent £50 quid on driver training and taken 10 seconds off a lap and enjoyed the process more.... Ultimately you will get bored very quickly chasing power.

Good advice from Max.

As you're off to Anglesey I thought I'd put together the video of the tuition I got there.

What tires were you running that seemed to upset the poor man so much?

I think some of the " Harsh " comments your words not mine are very premature as I've not driven the car for more than three laps at Bedford since spending the money And the reason why I've spent the money on the car and not myself is because when others who have driven the car have said its " underivable" and handles terrible So I spent the money getting the car right before spending money on training I can also assure you I don't like spending money As for the extra power I've enjoyed doing it and was In the right place at the right time to pick the parts up at the right money It's only now I've added the power that very few have done where i am not seeing advantages from it and maybe i have started running before I can walk And a step back to M62 levels of torque and power and some driver training might be a better option rather than sticking with the HArrop ( I will admit I've never consider driver training and maybe I should look in to it ) and maybe I am I fiddler rather than driver and just didn't realise it I don't mind constructive comments but please if your going to comment read the section first about what we are commenting about

That instructors lines are completely different to the instructors I had there, especially down through the corkscrew.

Looking again I would say his lines are more "racing" lines, diving straight to the apex to protect the inside etc.

Chill, this is me following Lee's Harrop'd car. Not a lot in it to be fair between a Harrop & M62. If I make it on the 24th, we can try swapping tyres so you can try before you replace yours? https://m.youtube.co...h?v=r_yyl2VWfws

I've not got on with the 888s, so I'd really like some advice on the day to know I'm running the pressures right. Hopefully push myself a little. 1.21:47 when I was last there.

Cheers for the offer max but will probably not have the RSRs by the time angelsey gets here what compound of v70a do you use ive read/heard that these are one of the most aggressive tire available but come with very little tread As much as want to use the RSRs one last time to compare the MBR setup I think I'm going to byte the bullit early Choice is V70a ( unsure of compound ) max R888R very little info and feed back from these ( five o'clock better in wet than old 888) Avon ZZR

Mark managed to use the 888rs at brands for a little bit last December and said then he was impressed. I think its where I'll go when these 888 rears wear out.

Ive got hard compound on the rears & medium on the fronts 17"/16" v70a's. I'm not sure about availability. I went direct to Kumho, they tracked down the tyres I wanted & told me which of their dealers had them in stock. I've heard people moan that they don't last long??? They certainly outlast A048's & R888's on track. I've no experience of the ZZR's or new R888's ...Anything is better than the old R888's! Way too squiggy & soft for my liking. The key to getting the most out of any tyre is to run them in the correct recommended operating temperature window. Get heat into your tyre & they'll grip well. Too much & you'll kill them off quickly.

I remember mike wearing out a front set of v70s at Angelsey in a session as his suspension had wound itself to full hard on its own!

From what I've heard the v70 is best for grip but nor longevity so 888s or zzr a nice compromise that doesn't want to be buying sets every few trackdays!

Fair enough sorry about the post... I look forward to seeing your progression after some instruction :) As everyone is saying it will open up a whole new world for you... it certainly did for me.

Firthy, I thought you were being harsh on Chris. But, well done for changing your tone. I have spent lots of money over the years attempting to improve upon my car. Much of it, a total waste of money! I'm no different from many on here in that respect. The clever ones on this site, will perhaps take note of some of the 'good' advice given on this site & enjoy driving their cars without wasting their money on useless upgrades. However, sometimes it's impossible to know what's good advice & what's not, as most will not want to admit that the mod's they've spent hundreds or thousands on, were in fact a total waste of money. No one likes to be wrong or perhaps they have nothing to compare it to apart from their own limited experience. Chill, is one of the few on this site, who has actually admitted that he's not sure if the money he's spent on his car has improved on his previous driving experience. It may well be that he needs to shift his thinking towards driving tuition & away from car upgrades. We can all learn from that! ...Anyway, time to get back to this thread title.

Been good to read the last few pages actually, a lot of valid comments imo! Seems to me like you have built a fantastic car Chris and should just get out there and use it and bond with it, as previously mentioned go out with faster drivers and get some tuition to make you more comfortable on the newer limits! You also hold the steering wheel in same place as me - i just can't get on with the quarter to 3 so have purchased a different wheel to hopefully see how i get on with that. Look forward to seeing you on track though mate :)

In some respects it's easy to loose your way chasing spec rather than enjoying it.... been there!
