I spent half the day on phone to a number of suppliers All started off saying they have no stock but can get them for next week But when they try to order them with kumho there unable to get them I do wonder if they comply with the new tire rules ?Chill, I went direct to Kumho UK. They told me which UK dealers had what I wanted in stock & I then ordered them from that dealer. I am aware that there is some sort of supply issues, not sure what though!

I thought I'd read that Kumho (and others) had dropped a load of sizes of V70's as a result of the EU tyre regs and the remaining sizes were only going to be sold as motorsport (non-road) tyres. So you may well be right.
That said, R888's were always hard work to get hold of at certain times of the year once all the race series had got their allocations and Toyo would be forever saying "they're in a container, on their way".

If you go for V70a you will have the grippiest treaded tyre that I've ever used, however be warned they really don't last long. My 285 width rears only lasted 2500 miles on Nipper, and remember I don't even track my car. I did only have the medium compound, maybe the hard one is longer lasting.

I thought they were around the same price as the v70a's but with similar grip but last 10 times longer. Seems like good value to me?YesDoes this mean you think they're over priced? And the problem with the zzr is no competition for the sales of them

If you haven't seen EVO this month they have a good article that explains what's going on and the approach that Toyo, Avon and Kumho are taking to tackle the new rules. This explains the current scarcity of V70's. You may find the new V70's from a motorsport supplier? Wonder when the 720's will be available..

Thinking about it. There's another day left in my rears so will burn through them first.

888 had big ass rotation direction arrows on the side.
I take it the R's do not?

They're fine, they're asymmetric, so just look weird compared with normal directional tyres. I remember the internet melting when Goodyear Eagle F1's changed from a traditional directional to an asymmetric tread.

those red, white and yellow lines are also important, no tyre is made perfect and this tells you the runout

wonder if one side is worse in the rain than the other ??
on a plus the R888R has a 16% stiffer side wall than the old 888s

Based on the pixies from the toyo website, and how the regular 888 flows, i would say:

no they are as they drive in the pics

they are not rotational there marked inside out side so the thin tread in the pics are always the inside edge
