Croft round up-
car loved the damp conditions and was extremely powerful early in the day and quickly hit my target time of a 1:38 despite the slipper tricky conditions and traffic on nearly every lap i did , my previous best was a 1:40 so was happy early doors with time.
car ran ok up until lunch ish time but did notice a rattle from what i thought was the exhaust heat shield when we got fuel before the track day so just dismissed the unusual noise as the heat shield
but after fuelling up at lunchtime noise started getting louder
and during 2nd or 3rd session the exhaust got very loud and i had very little power
after removing the under tray we found that the exhaust hanger had ripped out of the exhaust and left a hole in the exhaust
so it was time just to get the car to a point where could drive the car home
so let it cool down and made a temporary repair for the journey home
and what a journey it was the m62 was like a river and on the R888Rs which now are down to the markers were very bad in the standing water infact the car was skating badly and speeds were dropped to around 50 mph and sometimes less
so i have quite a bit of work to do on the car now getting the exhaust off again and get re-welded /repaired
and while the clam is off i will also fit the water injection i think and get it all ready for zandvoort
and might see if i can get a slot for rockingham (national) for half a day to test the car before hand
so overall im really getting to grips with the car and should be very happy with the early times that were set
but the target sort of changed due to the good start a sub 1:35 i think was possible so do feel a little deflated
the quickest lap i did in the day was probably one of the most scruffiest as you can see from the videos
any way time to get my hands dirty again and start to play with the early stages of the water injection plans
also worth noting that if you look at georges video following me the power was very good somtimes and other times was quite average but i dont know if this was down to the exhaust or IAT
