Good stuff. I bet the adrenaline is pumping on the start line. How did the tyres manage? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

i was very calm all through the day, i had mentally gone through it that many times, nailed every single start, couldn't get on full throttle in 1st gear.

i was very surprised how much grip there was from the off and after tower things were fine,

the tires are very good but are so very very different to the ZZRs after my first run i was a bit worried about he tires but they came through

Do you think you were faster than Friday or is a 1:33 sprint lap comparable to a 1:35 total lap?

yes miles faster, i will try and setup a video lap from the first corner to the finish line (track day v 1 lap sprint), i reckon its at least a second quicker than what i did on friday on the knackered ZZrs, and considering this is a standing start lap on cold tires and cold brakes i think it shows what i can actually do if i put my mind to it,

Congrats laps look good..... great to see that your holding the wheel correctly. Trying to correct those little snaps of over-steer you get on the limit with you hands at 10 to 2 would be very tricky.

Car looks so bloody fast :)

it was a super lap, and bet if i was doing a flying lap the car is capable of doing a 1:34, ive tried to stitch  a video together between chrisuk fastest lap at croft and my  sprint lap on cold tires and brakes. Its worth mentioning that chrisuks lap was very good    https://youtu.be/eJODxwKHOEo

Yea, that lap of mine when i watch it back was actually quite terrible, had a really poor exit on the last corner due to that mg, through jim clark i was all over and then again i lost over 0.6 seconds alone at the end (if you look at te delta thing on the dash) i should be in the low 1'34's ideally. Next year im targeting a 1'33.x full lap. Im really glad to see you are finally holding your wheel correctly after the years of moaning at you! You must feel how much easier it is to control slides etc. Also, this is proof that the big gay wing etc wont really help you at all, i know i carry about 115/120 through jim clark but you can just see how the extra power and lower drag really send you along the straights at lightning speed.

Not sure a BGW is going to help, it's the slow(er) speed corners you need to focus on. What happens to your class if you were to fit slicks or just add wider tyres?

My point of reference around Croft is the youtube clip below. This is in a 1.6 140bhp (flywheel), 600kg (with driver) Caterham on AO48's (the same spec as mine but with a good driver).

Just watching it back to back with your lap the place you're losing time vs this guy is around the slower sunny-in and sunny-out. The Caterham just has more mechanical grip in the slow speed corners, hence the suggestion that more grip might be the right area to focus on?

i have got plans to go for a wider tire at the rear in the winter, the car is very much on its nose which normally i dont mind but the rear is very lose especially on the brakes but this has been something which has been introduced since switching to the R888Rs, but what should not be forgotten  is to remember im not getting them up to full operating temps in the single lap.
