Forged wheels... forged wheels... forged wheels... ;) Good move on the brakes though, I think you'll be fine now.

Chav-tastic :) Final stages for mine now.. getting milled up and final fitment will be in a week or two. :)

£1600 is a lot to spend on a unproven product,  but who knows when you have finished them and proven them they might be  good option but until that time im quite happy spending a lot less money, admittedly a lot heavier than your claims on yours, but keep me posted on them.
Fair comment. Lets wait and see.. :)

Lets hope so, just a case of how long the the pads last, i think the sprint on Saturday at Anglesey will probably be the last outing for the car this year unless i get a sneaky Oulton park TD in, im at a bit of a crossover point in what im going to do,

im ready for a new set of wheels probably wider to try and help get the power down, but do i change to lotus hubs ?

The benefit to the lotus hubs is weight savings. The downside is cost. The hubs are lighter (not measured but they were definitely lighter picking them up), the discs are lighter from eurocarparts, and you get a much larger choice of wheels some of which are forged and very light even compared to TDs. BBKs are available but cost a lot and you need the 8" wide front to run most of them. While the hubs themselves are only about £80 each if bought from Andy on seloc, the discs are more expensive and the wheels can be really pricey depending on the style you choose. Since fitting mine the steering feel is much improved, lighter and more finger-tippy IYKWIM. Just make sure you get the Toyota fitment.

They definitely felt lighter to me, not half the weight or anything but a bit lighter. I'm not sure what was on the car originally but I fitted the SKF lotus hubs. The discs aren't much lighter either, maybe 100-200g again only in my hands though the vx discs were worn so would be even heavier than those I took off. The wheels I did weigh but only on the bathroom scales, with tyres fitted in both cases. In total the Lotus forged rims on ZZRs were 18+kg lighter than the TDs on AD08Rs. But it's all rotational unsprung weight which makes the difference.

According to 14500rpm, lotus hubs are 2745g. There are 2 types of vx220 ones. The lightest are 3050 each and the heaviest are 3170 g.

if the weight is close to the centre of rotation, its not so bad , but the tyres really do create a lot of force on a high speed corner , you will notice it at Spa, or Copse/Stowe at Silverstone

went for a drive yesterday and the difference is a lot between the EP bells and rotors and the 308mm single piece discs i hope it not upset the car to much as it was feeling particularly good this year, time will tell, as its all experimental at the moment and the the target is to try and get pads to last longer and then maybe moving on to something a little lighter,

the feel is so much more heavier on the wheel and where i haven't been on track yet when loading the car up on the front axle it just seems lazy and less responive

How is the brake bias? Not too much front now??

I struggled a lot with this on my car (std brakes on normal 288mm discs and RC6 pads) and now finally have a less front-heavy bias. So I'm able to brake later and brake-turn it into a corner, instead of locking the fronts up early...

ive never had a issue wit the fronts locking up early/first  and until ive been on track wont really know if anything when using the same discs front and rear i would say the rears were a bit snappy when braking in a straight line but this could be down to other issues rather than locking up

will have to see how it goes,

Frank what size front tires do you run ? i use 205 which gives a lot more grip than the 195

That's exactly the feeling I get when I say lighter set up is more finger tippy, On the old setup I steered more with my shoulders, but now the fronts feel narrower even though they are the same size and on stickier tyres.

What is your configuration?

Std brakes, std 288mm discs, RC6 pads. Toyo 888's 205-40-17 / 225-45 17. Quantums blacks. 550lb/ 650lb,  1 inch ARB. Around 115-130mm ride height.

Last trackday at Zandvoort I also disconnected the rear right ABS sensor (left front was already off) and that made the difference in more rear brake bias...
