Nev would you be able to post this excel sheet online like google drive or Dropbox etc? Or if it's easier for you, email it to me and I'll happily do it. Cheers.

On my search for lightning the car I've wondered about replacing the car battery with a capacitor bank Very very light indeed And then just carry a small 12v battery to charge them up if they ever discharge Anyone tried this or have any thoughts on it ??

Or maybe even put a small battery on to the capacitor bank to keep them charged

i think a super capacitor bank will be great for starting the car and should last a good 12-24 hours without and battery back up and still start the car up

and then maybe if a need to give the capacitor a boost i could simply plug a small 12v battery in to the capacitor to charge it up

the weight saving will probably be less than 5% of the vx battery

the only thing that would stop me doing it is how would all the ecu etc react when the capacitor is completely flat for a long period of time

Look at car stereo stuff. They have mega sized capacitors in excess of 1 farad. Should do the trick.

Get an Aliant X4. 1.6kg and it'll work ok with a cteck and normal alternator. You could also fit a WOSP alternator but I've aren't as robust as oem and with the heat soak on an SC that might shorten its life. If your getting a racing battery I would also fit a kill switch to make sure you don't get drain. Rip out the hifi and any other electrics you don't need to save more weight.

radio has long gone but even the 1.6 kg racing battery you talk of is heavy compared with 6 capacitors

True but it will be a simple swap. Less to go wrong? Next up I'd fit a pro alloy fuel tank, another 4kg and you get more capacity so win win. But the most beneficial of all is the lotus hub swap and forged wheels...

You about 18 months behind my thinking process, I went through the car front to back looking at what I could lighten, but I've not got the cash or engineering talent to actually do it all :)

600kg would be nice but realistically anything saved is a bonus even I found I did get down to 600 kg I can't see me matching his powerful that thing is amazing and start drives it well
