probably going to end up with a 215 front tire and a 255 rear, which means im going to putting even more pressure on the braking system which i already struggle with (wear ) so is it time i went 4 pots on the front and bigger discs on the rear
i have some 4 pots here mate if you want them

Well Lee has donated his 4 pots from a mini cooper S with the adapter brackets which im going to give a try (probably not straight away but certainly will as year goes on )
I am feeling very nervous about playing with the brakes especially considering i love the standard brake setup, but now im playing with wheel and tire size and i want to really start chasing down lap times and winning sprints i think it might be time to upgrade the braking system ( so any comments or experiences you have had will be appretiated )
my next question is about the rears, i dont want to move away from the brembo rear but is there a common way of getting the caliper to move out to take a bigger disc ?

If you're serious about improving lap times through braking improvements you are going in the wrong direction IMO by increasing front caliper size in isolation. Its well known that the brake bias on the elise platform is pretty poor from a track/race perspective.
I would be looking at a bias bar set up (ABS delete) with front A.P calipers on the rear on custom brackets. If going for larger front calipers make sure the rear is getting the same attention.
If the above is not an option think carefully about pad compounds in order to balance the car.
Take a look at the following links for people who really know the elise chassis/braking systems:

Really excited to see how you get on next year!

I think the spec 3 and 4 need changing as classing cars in a "bhp" range isn't even. They've got the normal trackday goer mentality of going faster needs more bhp and thats it. That's why they get so confused when a lotus platform goes passed with a quarter of the power.

I think they will put a powerlimit on the lowerof the two classes around a 2.0 NA power level as they will be in spec 3 The problem with power it's all done on trustI think the spec 3 and 4 need changing as classing cars in a "bhp" range isn't even. Got a bit of time off work
things to try and get sorted
1. front clam off, ( fix some minor cracking which has appeared in the clam )
2. change rad hoses ( been in garage for 3 years )
3.look at putting a splitter on the front
4.New tires on new rims
5. rainsports on old wheels
6. carbon fibre hardtop
7. look at removing some weight out of car
8. remove splitter and straighten and re profile it
i do not think i will get it all done but see how it goes
